Has Maxwell House coffee gone bad? (2023)

I am so glad that I decided to look online about this… My partner and I both noticed a weird smell after purchasing and using Maxwell house grounded coffee. I also am someone who purchased theirs due to the affordability.

My partner was mentioning the smell of the coffee, and how bad it smelled!
I have never been a Maxwell house drinker prior, the smell is sour and the taste is bitter. I believe that it gives me an upset stomach like others have mentioned. I’m getting rid of it today!

I have loved MH for years. I bought a store brand about a month ago because they were out of MH. switched back a week ago, and sick all over again. The store brand tasted better too. I'm throwing my MH away. Yikes.

I have no idea what they have done to Maxwell House Coffee but I can no longer even stomach to open the lid to the coffee container! We brew our morning java in an amazing Cusinart perculator and our coffee has always smelled and tasted amazing. Recently, due to food price increases, we decided to start purchasing our good, old Maxwwell House again, as we remembered its decent quality for a less expensive brew. Oh my! Day 1 I felt awful after drinking it, getting both a stomach and headache. And the smell alone was horrendous!! To give it a fair shake I tried again a second day. Then not just me, but my husband also, found we couldn't even consume a full cup! Something is terribly wrong with this coffee! We will never buy it again.

Last week I thought I had the stomach flu… coffee was making me vomit. I didn’t drink coffee for days, bought some yesterday and vomited within a couple minutes. Never again. There’s something in it now Is this GMO?

Both me and my husband had to stop drinking MH. It makes us both feel horrible. The same way you feel during a flu (minus the mucas). My husband even said that it made him feel like he wanted to kill himself. I tried to mix it in with other coffee to tone it down and that didn't work either. I don't know what they are doing but I will never buy it again.

I noticed that maxwell house original has tasted bitter lately, not good at all like dirt.

I'm glad to have found this forum! +1 to all the folks talking about gas, burping, abdominal pain, and headaches. I've been having daily issues for nearly a year and never realized it was the MH Breakfast Blend I loved to drink.

Yes, the taste of Maxwell House instant has gone to shit (probably all their produts have). Why? Because since Kraft bought them out, Kraft has decided to buy the cheapest, crapiest poor quality beans from anywhere in the world, rather than good quality beans from well known reputable sources. All in the name of greed and profits.

Here lately which I have my cup of MH coffee. I start feeling nausea and a general I'll feeling. One day I felt very lightheaded. I have narrowed it to the MH coffee. Because if I don't have the coffee I start feeling better.

I have been drinking the Maxwell House International Cappuccino instant coffee and enjoyed. The last few containers I have purchased, a different story. The coffee tastes bitter and that is after I add some Cremona (as I always do). Did they change the recipe?? Disappointed, I always enjoyed that coffee.

I bought a box a the taste is horrible. It even smell bad. I’m very disappointed in the product and the company.

I just opened a new container of maxwellhouse coffee and I noticed that the foil wrapper was puffed up , when I pulled it air under a little pressure came out instead of the usual vaccum...checked another new container that we had in cabinet and the foil was puffed up also...swelled up can goods is a sign of contents has gone bad...

Recently, I have had to take 2 Advil every morning. I finally put two and two together when I searched Maxwell house coffee and headaches. It seems I'm not the only one who has discovered the source. Instead of "Good to the last drop" I say, NEVER TOUCH ANOTHER DROP. What are they putting in it?!

Now now I know why I have been feeling sick to my stomach and wanting to throw up and have diarrhea all day. I bought Maxwell House which I always drink every morning I have at least three or four cups a day sometimes five. The first day I opened up a new can and as soon as I drank my first cup I felt like I wanted to throw up. I then had diarrhea all day and felt nauseous I didn't know what was going on. This morning I had another cup this morning . I felt the same thing .. nauseous and diarrhea. I went online to see if there was a recall. Sure enough many are complaining the same.

Love Columbian. Can't stand any other. But recently my Columbian tasted like the 'classic', original, or decaf. Not really a coffee taste, but something else that I immediately recognized from previous coffees I have used. Tasted like garbage. Hotel coffee. Hope this is not a thing. Because I like nothing other than their Columbian.

We bought some Maxwell House Original Roast in April 2022. We switched when prices went up. I’ve had this brand and roast before and the flavor was fine, but this had a taste of just bad coffee. Flavor was dull to the taste. We tried different amounts to no avail. We went through almost 1 container and called it quits. Both my husband and I got headaches and I got dizzy. Went back to previous brand immediately, all is well.

We've had Maxwell House before, it's not our go to, but it's okay enough that we pick it up when its on sale.

They tasted burnt, acidic. We knew it was paste time to clean our percolator, so that's what we did.

After cleaning acidic/metallic flavors were STRONGER. We suspected residual vinegar, and so ran water through half a dozen times. No help.

This morning I bought a NEW percolator. and the terrible flavors were still there... Aha!!! Its the coffee?!?!?

Now paying more attention and smells the grinds, they smell rancid or like cat-pee. The smell is stronger in the more recently opened containers... just, yuck. How does this happen across three containers (worse on the newer ones)?

I have been drinking Maxwell house breakfast blend for years. My children Like folders breakfast blend. so i changed brands. Immediately i felt dizzy and nauseated. It gave me severe diarrhea I immediately went back to Maxwell house. I don't have that problem any more.

I had been having bad stomach aches with Maxwell House Light Roast. We switched to Folgers medium and I had no issues. We thought maybe the Maxwell House Medium Roast would be ok so we tried it. I just had a cup an hour ago....abdominal pains already started and now I won't feel good all day. Good bye Maxwell House...never again. Not sure what they have it in that I'm sensitive to, but I see others have the same problem. :(

So far, I have not experienced any bad tastes or health problems.
There must have been a bad batch, of some kind.

I have been buying Maxwell House for years. No longer will I purchase it. I bought the Maxwell House International Vanilla Carmel Latte. Used to be my favourite. Opened it and smelled something chemical. Tasted it and couldn't drink it. I thought it was just the batch. So bought another box. Same thing. Purchased another box at a different store. Was the same. I kept trying to drink it but but caused stomach problems, pain and some nausea. Too bad, I used to enjoy it.

So a few weeks ago I bought a tub of maxwell house on sale. I switch up my coffee brands depending on budget and availability. Anyway the last few weeks I’ve been having very regular stomach aches and some headaches. I have IBS so I put it down to that, but they have been getting more intense and pretty much daily. I just googled whether coffee brand could be a factor and sure enough I find this page with all these comments saying similar. I’d had maxwell house before but maybe not for a couple of years. Tomorrow I’ll be switching. No other coffee has had me doubled over in pain like this

Drank one cup of Maxwell house coffee February 18th 2022 and got so sick thought I was going to have to go to the hospital, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, severe sickness!! Bought the Maxwell house coffee from the Walmart in Checotah Oklahoma.

I buy six cans at a time and all was well until I reached the latest. I have been using the coffee for some 40 years but only changed to the decaf over the last 15 years. There is a bitter chemical taste in the coffee that immediately makes my stomach very upset. Based on previous comments that they are ignoring the complaints, it is time to lay complaints with the health department. IF there is enough complaints it will be looked into. Sad we have to go to this extent!

I've drank Maxwell House coffee for years.. it's not until recently that I've suspected it to be the cause of my constant muscle tightness and back spasms. When I stop drinking it, I notice within a few days the pain or tension start to ease... When I drink it again, the paint/tightness flares up again... anyone else experience this?

I don't know what's in their coffee that's any different from other coffee brands but I've only really noticed it with Maxwell House..

I know the best option is to just stop drinking it but I love coffee... so this will be very challenging for me.. lol..

I am so glad I found this forum. I too have experienced severe stomach aches, cramps, gas, and headaches from Maxwell House coffee. I used to drink their house blend many years ago and it was great. I switched to Peets dark roast and decided last weekend to buy Maxwell House Wake Up Blend since it was on sale for $4.99 and we were having a lot of relatives over. I brewed some this morning on my first day off and have been sick ever since. Burping too. Something is seriously wrong with this coffee, and when it brews it doesn't even smell like coffee. Is this even coffee or some synthetic chemical crap? I am returning it back to the supermarket.

I finally figured out what is making me sick. Definitely the coffee from Maxwell House. I also tried full jersey and that upsets my stomach but Maxwell House Coffee is downright painful bloating diarrhea gas. I am suffering right now. Never again.

Bought a can of MH Master Blend Coffee because of sale price and had not tried for many years while using other brands. Used the same formula of coffee: water as with other brands and noticed lack of an odor during brewing as the first clue. Smelled the coffee in a freshly opened can and it was weak and not a good robust or even pleasant smell.
Coffee was disgusting vs. our usual brands and I dumped it out before insulting my wife who loves good coffee. THIS is NOT good coffee and just the reverse. Will never buy MH products again. No wonder Kraft Heinz stock is in the toilet with products like this.

I've been drinking coffee for years and enjoy a fresh cup or two from my Keurig each and every morning. I usually drink Green Mountain or a store brand because it's more economical. This time, I decided to get Folgers Classic Roast. It was absolutely delicious but a few hours later, I was sick. I had periodic chest pains and diarrhea all evening until bedtime. I didn't give the Folgers a 2nd thought. However I had a similar problem with Nescafe Taster's Choice instant well over a year ago before I started working virtually. Nescafe just gave me chest pains. I'm wondering if the coffees are being harvested differently or is it something else. I find it to be strange that I'm not having this issue with any other coffee. Yes, I drink coffee daily but some days, I skip my cup of Joe.

Has anyone experienced swelling inside the mouth? I am wondering if Maxwell House is the cause, if it has changed;

I have been drinking Folgers of years, it’s become so bad I gave up coffee all together

Ive been drinking Folgers since I was raised by my grandparents who drank it but recently I've been getting migraines from it. Through process of elimination, Folgers was the culprit. Too bad, I'll go back to Nescafe.

I started to have horrible heartburn
and my husband was actually throwing up after accidentally. I thought maybe we had a virus or something until he said I was making the coffee too strong tho I hadn't changed a thing. I changed to the black silk ( darker coffee = less acidic ). I've never had that happen to me before but changing coffee type seemed to work. Then just days ago we ran out and were really busy so I pulled out the stuff I had put aside. ( I didn't toss it because I felt like it was a waste so I meant to return it.) The very same day I started with the worst burning heartburn again. My husband is nauseated again too. What the heck is going on? I usually don't have this problem. I don't even take any stomach meds since I switched to the black silk. It's almost unbelievable that the coffee type can cause such a dramatic health issue.

Totally disappointed. I often drink a cup or two Genuine blue Mountain coffee, therefore I do know what they taste like. If you drink the above coffee assess a normal Maxwell drip coffee, then the quality is not bad, but then if you looking for blue Mountain flavour it is not there.

I love coffee…I buy maxwell house and Folgers. The last few days I’ve been drinking Maxwell House, but not anymore. After my first cup it starts making me nauseated, I can’t even get myself to drink a second cup like I always do. What’s going on.

Im tired of all over counter coffees. As of 10/21, all coffee in a can is garbage.

I'm so relieved to find this forum - I thought something was wrong with my stomach, a stomach which is like cast iron and nothing bothers it. My mother and I drank instant Maxwell House coffee for years, but after she passed away, I decided to switch to something more robust so for the past decade, I've been drinking Nescafe. Due to the shortage on supply shelves, they were out of Nescafe, so I got Maxwell House. All this week I could not understand what was wrong with my stomach - last Saturday I got my Moderna COVID booster. When I had the second Moderna shot, I did get nauseous and had horrible stomach cramps which lasted 24 hours. No problem - I wanted that booster. But it continued - I worried and started Googling around. I NEVER associated it with the coffee as I drank it for years! We only drank instant, same now, as I don't drink enough coffee to brew a pot of coffee. It goes in the garbage now and glad I only bought one bottle of it - yikes! I literally felt like my stomach had a freight train running through it - horrible pain and diarrhea. I'm so glad I found this forum!

Decided to try Maxwell House after a lifetime of other coffees and it made me ill. Got belly ache after just 3 days of it. Bought it because i saw there was a plant or wherehouse locally. Sorry i wasted my money. It is toxic. Did Nestle buy the brand?

Anyone else notice that hills brothers and other similar brands float in the filter much more than the slightly more expensive brands? I normally drink wide awake brand and my boyfriends dad (we live with him) drinks hills bros, first it tastes like garbage and looks like sludge, but when you go to dump the filter out it looks like it was all just floating and over flowing out of the filter, doesn't happen with the brand I use though... I'm convinced its mostly saw dust thats just been soaked in coffee.

There must be some ingredient besides the coffee that eethat is making people sick. It gave me a dull headache, and I never get headaches. Plus the gastriintestinal distress. I found a recipe online to make my own, and it did not make me sick.

Purchased Maxwell House Instant for years . Last week at Kroger purchased one and seal was broken and coffee smelled burnt. Took coffee back and got a new jar. Coffee looks a little different in color and smell. Monday was light headed and dizzy. Saturday night sick all night throwing up for hours. What could cause this in coffee?

AKA everyone who's ever consumed this product or made revenues off it - we recently had genuine concerns about the contents on 3 different occasions/purchase locations where we find ourselves with extreme headaches after consuming the maxwell house coffee. Don't drink another drop!!! Toss it or if you happen to have the ability to test it for chemicals or poisons please do so and share your findings across our nation. This seems an uncanny coincidence to the attacks on our country. ??? Take heed and be watchful over all things to keep your family safe!!

So the past several weeks, we've been feeling ill in the morning with nausea, heartburn and headache on a daily basis for about 2-3 hours after drinking the coffee where the symptoms begin almost immediately. After research and our scientific experiment, we determined the coffee was making us sick. So, I contacted the store and manufacturer for them to investigate. The coffees (more than one container) are being tested in the lab by Kraft. So, check your brands...several are in question. There are conversations about it, too (see attached) but none have been recalled to date. Since narrowing down our focus and switching, no one is feeling ill anymore. Thankfully so 💗

Just went to make coffee, been drinking foldgers for yrs and as I was scooping there was a brown stained piece of wood approximately 1 in in the grinds that resembled Coffee color . Now I’m starting to wonder if they are grinding wood into this coffee. Been suffering with stomach issues for yrs. Utterly disgusted to think about what we have been drinking all these yrs.

Ever since maxwell house makes the kcuos pods ´recyclable ´ and store in a simili plastic bag, the pods take on a plastic flavor, disgusting. I no longer buy this brand

We have purchased 100% Colombian for a decade and our very satisfied with the consistent good taste. It's a great daily coffee and everyone that we invite over comments on how smooth it is and then is surprised to learn it's Maxwell House.
Granted it might also have to do with our well water as others have also commented on our water tasting better than city water.
I love S. American coffees, Two Volcanoes and coffee culture has some great choices too, but for a daily inexpensive coffee, we are happy with Maxwell house.

I Am in utter shock!!! My wife and I have been drinking Maxwell House & Folgers Coffee For Yrs!!! And in these Years we have had severe headaches I got got receipts to prove how much excedrin we buy a month even such sickness to our stomachs my has to go throw up alot because her stomach is in her throat we bought Mcafe & Yuban the other day made a pot from the Mcafe it was amazing & my wife goes to smell the M.House it smells just like Chemicals keeping all of the ones we just bought & opened ones getting ahold of somebody Guess what No Headaches No Stomach aches We're the types that keep a pot rolling 24 we CANNOT BELIEVE ALL THAT FOR YRS WAS STEMMING FROM THESE COFFEES WE'RE GETTING DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS & PRAY WE'RE NOT SICK FOR LIFE FROM SOMETHING IN THEM!!

Lately I have been drinking a cup of the Maxwell House Original Roast coffee first thin in the morning. I purchased a 925 grams container.:-( My husband has not issue, but I have been getting "dizzy" in the morning 1/2 hour after drinking a cup. - never gave it another thought - until this long weekend, were I spent 2 out of 4 days vomiting with the world going round and round. All day in bed with the garbage basket next to me.
NO MORE MAXWELL HOUSE coffee for me. I will through it all out. Very disappointed.

I've been drinking Maxwell House for many years and have always enjoyed it. Over the last few years I too began having daily nausea, reflux, car sickness, stomach cramping, gas and diarrhea. I didn't relate it to the coffee right away but did notice that the coffee now had an unusual scent. For lack of a better description "chemical cat pee". The flavor wasn't appealing either.
Long story short,
I was given a coffee bean grinder so started buying Eight oclock coffee. It wasn't until later that I realized all symptoms had disappeared! I still had a unopened can of MH on the shelf and my husband decided to made us a pot of it yesterday morning. The smell and taste were unsatisfying and BAM, all symptoms returned!
I'm not sure if there's a connection but I deal indirectly with Heinz Corp and since they started expanding their business interests they have done things that have hurt their producers to save themselves a dollar. Young foolish tech savvy money mongers that sacrifice business ethics for the almighty dollar. I had no idea until reading this blog that Heinz was involved with MH but the coincidence is to much.

I've been drinking MH half-calf every day for years. Near the end of the last big tub it started tasting like my percolator had a burnt element that leached into the coffee. I scrubbed that percolator with soap & water, baking soda & vinegar, vinegar & lemon juice, more soap & water and brewed several pots of plain water. The coffee still tasted bad so I bought a new percolator and a new tub of coffee. In the meantime I was wondering what I may have eaten that gave me stomach issues. I cleaned the new percolator, brewed a pot of plain water, then made a pot of fresh coffee (using bottled water) and it is the coffee!! I just threw away a perfectly fine percolator and wasted money on a new one but it is the coffee that is poison! Time for a new brand.

I have drank Maxwell House every day of my life. After two years of purchasing large & small cans, also trying instant, my conclusion is....every can & freeze dryers instant is rancid!!! It tastes and smells like horse poop! Or like some kind of fertilizer!!! They have changed it! Also, some other brands. This was my favorite coffee to smell in the mornings! They have to know something we don’t. It’s also sent me to the doctor with diarrhea, cramps, etc., & made me nauseous! This is frighting as other foods are not tasting right either. And it’s not me because I have spoken to others with the same complaints.

As I write this I'm on the tail end of a terrible migraine. I usually have coffee black or with cream, and I usually drink Folgers. This morning I was at a friend's house, and I saw a tin of the French vanilla latte powder with the red top. I decided to give it a shot. Put in two teaspoons to a sixteen ounce glass. It was about seven in the morning. I also had bowl of honey bunches of oats, some milk, and a glass of orange juice. The only thing different from the previous morning was the Maxwell House powder. I began to feel a slight migraine come on behind my left eye by about 9:30 am. By ten it was influencing my conversation. By 10:10 I had to close my eyes and try to sleep. By 111:30, I was standing by the truck spitting warm saliva. By noon I was severely nauseous and stood by the road about ten minutes expecting to vomit. The wave of nausea passed, and I sat back down in the truck. As of now, 1:01 pm, the nausea has abated, and I merely have the ghost of a headache. Before, I could not have typed this message. Now I'm okay to do so. The effects are fading. The latte flavoring was purchased at a Walmart in Billings Montana. All in all, my personal constitution dealt with this for to 3.5 hours, onset took 2.5 hours, for a six to seven hour cycle; I don't know when the headache will totally abate. It was definitely that latte mix. I'm sensitive to artificial flavoring and sweeteners. As well as some "natural" flavoring. It was only this particular drink mix. A day or two before, I tried hazelnut flavor from a different tin, and experienced almost no effect. I did have a mild headache, but that day I had been working on articles for seven hours, using a computer screen and standing with little nutrition. So it could have been the coffee, but I doubt it. Today, though, that particular powder is definitely what did it to me. Thought I was gonna barf everywhere. I used the restroom, and now the effects are almost entirely gone. I'd say avoid this flavor for a while.

I to have gotten sick from drinking Folgers Coffee. Upset stomach, diarrhea and overall just not feeling good. Now I have a question for you all. Have any of you shined a light in the canister of coffee? And have you noticed blue specs in the coffee grounds? What the hell is that? Mold? Radio-active flakes? What the hell. I opened 4 canisters of Folgers and shone the light in it and every canister had these strange blue specs.

Got a new container of Folgers ground coffee and have tried several time only to wind up with some of the worst migraines I've ever had.
I'll bet this stuff is processed in china.

Lately, the last two cans of Maxwell House Original Roast coffee I bought have been very nasty tasting. I keep my drip machine clean so it is not that. The coffee grounds even smell bad. I am returning this last can and will be trying different brands. It is a shame because I have liked this brand for a long time.

So I ran out of beans, go to the store, big can of Max on sale for cheap so I buy it. I'm sitting on the crapper (sorry if tmi) right now and search "Maxwell house ma" and suggestions comes up with "makes me sick." Boom. Maybe I'm on to something because I have changed nothing else in my diet.
Today I'll buy something different if I can muster up the energy to out.

I made a comment on this site a while back about Maxwell house International instant decaf. I had some serious issues and attributed it to the coffee. I went through several tests to try to get to the bottom of my problems. I was later diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori. I now have side effects basically with joint pain due to the antibiotic treatment I had to take in order to cure it. It was the treatment I chose with reservation in light of the serious side effects and also knowing the antibiotic being used was no longer being manufactured because of that reason, but had the most success rate of a cure. After my cure I tried the coffee again hoping it wasn't the coffee, unfortunately that was not the case and again the coffee made me feel sick, therefore I will not drink it ever again. I'm not saying it was the cause of the Pylori I was diagnosed with, but I am certainly saying it still makes me feel sick.

Masterblend is now very bitter. I have been drinking this coffee for years...used to be great. Sadly I am looking for a different coffee.

Last year I noticed that Maxwell house instant coffee was getting hard to obtain in all my local grocery stores. I found some on sale at my pharmacy. I bought it and found it to be very bitter. Because I had it I continued to drink it with extra sugar and extra cream but I also found that I got stomach cramps after drinking it. I continue to use the first jar I opened but threw the second one away and switch to another brand of instant coffee. What a difference it made and even my husband likes it much better. Something is definitely going on.

JJust purchased a can of Maxwell House ground coffee, original roast medium because I ran out of my favorite Aldi's blend & Aldis was already closed early for New Year's Eve.
Well, I made the coffee in my pourover Melitta & thought, how bad could it be. It was like dishwater & truly awful.
I don't know what they're doing over at Kraft Foods, but they're going to hear from me about their substandard product.
If you want a great quality coffee at a fair price, I recommend Aldi's organic roast from Peru. I buy it in the whole bean form & grind my own. The coffee is consistently flavorful & since I grind it myself, it's always fresh.
After I speak with Kraft, I'll try to post their excuse.

My Husband drinks coffee. He has been drinking MH for years and he said the last two we bought are just bad. He hates the taste. He buys French roast. He said the taste it’s like brunt horrible. He been now drinking la Colombe beans and loves Folgers noir

This is the coffee brand I would always buy and enjoy. I just bought a new can of the rich dark as that was my favourite. In the can it smells amazing, but brewing it doesn’t smell right. It didn’t taste right either. I was thinking maybe it was just my taste buds have changed and I tried the medium roast. Same problem. I even tried different types of water. Tap, bottled, filtered. It made no difference. I tried it in both my normal coffee maker AND in the keurig. Both tasted horrible. So I decided to just suck it up and drink it. Bad idea. Extreme stomach pains and feeling almost like I was on drugs. There is definitely something that has changed / wrong with this brand. I was so disappointed I used to love it. I’m scared to drink coffee from home now I felt like I was going to have a heart attack and vomit. It actually was very unpleasant and sorta scary.

I’m sensitive to caffeine but love a good cup of coffee so I bought some instant, decaf Folgers. I used two teaspoons to make an ice cold Americano with cream. It tasted fine but a few hours later I wasn’t feeling well. I went to bed very early and woke up with intense nausea and painful acid reflux. My throat, chest belly and guts were burning. I was sick all day and couldn’t think clearly due to the full body migraine it caused. Nothing tasted right and I began to worry that I had covid! Thankfully I didn’t want any more coffee on such a sour stomach and surprise— I’m feeling much better today. Wtf is in that jar?! Never again!

Bought the Maxwell House Smooth Bold. 2 days in and I'm stuck in the bathroom. Never again. I'm taking it back and getting a refund!

I bought Folgers half caff because I thought it would be better than all of the caffeine in Starbucks.

I usually get my coffee from aldi, but didn’t feel like making the trip last week and bought Maxwell House coffee from a store close by. It seems that every time I drink a cup of Maxwell house coffee I soon after have a terrible headache. I ended up doing a google search only to discover this page and find that it’s not only me. What is going on with their coffee. I will definitely not be purchasing Maxwell house coffee again.

My research shows Folgers buys coffee from Vietnam and other areas where insecticdes are being used. Vietnams agent orange is still prevalant in the soil.

Normally drink Dunkin, but in todays times, because of Covid, switched to MH. It was cheaper. Had a very, bitter taste. Almost chemical. Thinking it was me, continued for another week and a half. Ended up in the hospital. Heart attack. I'm out now and drinking Dunkin. After several tests, docs are still confounded. I'm not. Never MH again, ever!!!!

After going down the list of any new things that I was eating or drinking, the coffee was the only change. Quit drinking the coffee and I have had no problems since. I had left a can of the instant coffee at my boyfriend's house for when I stay there on the weekend. Everytime I stay over and drink that coffee I could just about make it home. I was convinced I was being poisoned.Now it all makes sense.

My workplace just changed to maxwell house and the first coffee I had gave me a headache that lasted all day. That first cup was my last.

I used to love maxwell house master blend. Very mild smooth and a very subtle sweet taste. Drank it for years. Over the past few years the blend must have changed. It’s bitter. Not the master blend I loved for years. Too bad. I have been forced to change. Why would they ruin a good product.

I've drunk European coffee (thick as mud and they serve it in what's practically a shot glass) without being sick like I was drinking Maxwell House. May be the coffee beans, but I'm betting there's something in that coffee that shouldn't be there.

I've been drinking Maxwell Instant Coffee for decades. I have came to noticed within the past couple of years that there has been a change within that coffee brand. It has today 80% powder and possibly 20 or less granules when it supposed to have a 100% granules. I use to purchase this coffee at my local Walmart. For the past year I am unable to make that purchase any longer. I asked a stock person once and they told me that they no longer carry that product. So it has to be a reason as to why some stores are not carrying this item anymore.

I am so glad to happen upon this site. We thought our coffee pot had gone bad. Had a different type brand new in a box, same results. Coffee tastes weak and old. We even have a little 4 cupper we tried. We have two brand new containers of coffee we opened and two more in our store room. We have bought this coffee for over ten years. Not that it will do any good but I plan to email Kraft Heinz and complain. They also own Oscar Mayer and we got some unsatisfactory Beef Hot Dogs recently too. They were greasy which they never are. That had happened once before and they corrected the problem for awhile and sent me some coupons. They need to know they are losing loyal customers.

Not for nothing else I grew up on Maxwell House and Yuban. Yuban was instant and mom brewed max house. It was pretty good as far as me not knowing much back then . This was the 50's and 60's. . Got married used Folgers instant (yeah I know) all the time but it wasn't too bad, then began grinding and brewing my own thanks to Coffee Detective a few years ago so I haven't used these two for a long time. Well I did try Max house for a Kurigwe got a few years ago. Expecting something that approached what I remembered, I just spit stout. How can anyone sell this swill and call it coffee. It has the worst flavor of anything I have ever drank. I tired Folgers ground a few weeks back and really it wasn't too bad for a ground in the can and I didn't have any ill effects . So I don't know what Maxwell house did but the days of I remember mama and Good to the last drop are long gone. Blechhhh.

I drink Maxwell House International french vanilla cafe every morning with peanut butter toast for years. Recently I have been having stomach problems specifically after i have my toast and coffee. It would be so bad, stomach ache, nausea and then vomiting. After a few hours I would be fine but the mornings were awful. I first decided it was the peanut butter even through it was smooth peanut butter, I decided I might have become allergic to peanuts. So I start eating Twinkies for breakfast I seemed to do OK with that. So then I started drinking my coffee with the twinkies and again I started throwing up soon after I ate. At that point the only thing I could think was giving me a problem was the coffee which I have drank for years. I don't know what changed but I certainly know it had to be the coffee. I looked on line to see if there was a recall on the coffee for some reason and found this site (Thank God) and have discovered other people have had the same problems. Today is a holiday but I will be calling Maxwell House tomorrow and find out if they have made a change in their coffee which can be causing me problems after all these years of drinking it.

I’ve been drinking vanilla international coffee for years, but lately I’ve been feeling nauseous and throat soreness right afterward. But this morning was the worst! So bad I almost threw up! I actually thought I might be having an allergic reaction due the odd soreness/tightness in my throat. I’m done, I don’t coffee that I might need an epi pen afterward. Something is seriously wrong. FDA should be alerted.

Been drinking Smooth Bold for years. The last two cans tasted funny, so I tried Intense Bold, which I have had in the past and like it too. Still bad and have felt sick all day with both. Tried different half and half brands, didn't work. What has changed, does anyone know?

I've been using Maxwell House International Coffee for years with no problem---that is, until this morning when the coffee tasted so salty and abhorrent I threw it out after two sips. I purchased the coffee (ten months ahead of the expiration date), together with the milk I made it with only yesterday at Walmart. Tomorrow, I'll take the nearly full can back with a warning that the coffee is contaminated. Perhaps Maxwell House is now making its coffee in China. I don't know, but I won't buy this company's products again.

I thought maybe it was the type of roast or bean, which is what I was originally searching for, but after finding this site, I realized it must be all Folgers as I had the same stomach issues at my friends house, and I remember the red can!

The flavor is Ok, but we notice that after drinking it, we become unpleasant people. It leads to a lot of shouting and feels like our nerves are frayed and out of control. Only with very strong chamiomile tea can we counteract all of this. We don't buy this anymore.

Recently bought Maxwell House Colombian ground coffee large 1lb 10.7 oz size I opened to find a light brown powder poured on top . Shocking to say I picked up a clump and it disentegrated in my hand . Contacted them. Maxwell House Rep The woman that answered wasn’t interested in what was wrong could answer no questions And had to be prompted to answer anything. Basically if it was poison or a harmful substance they don’t care as reflected in their representative.. They sent me a coupon to buy another one . Don’t think So !,, I’ve used the brand for over 20 yrs . They have officially lost a customer and many others As I will share this with my friends and family.

I suffer from migraines but I KNOW that Folgers is one of the reasons. I used to get migraines when I would visit a particular job site. I found out they served Folgers. I had coffee at a nice country club buffet. I got a migraine, called to ask what coffee they served. It was Folgers. It is almost instant. I can recognize the flavor and I know to expect a migraine even if I've only had one sip. I now ask what type of coffee is served wherever I go. My aunt also used to get carsick after drinking Folgers. Other coffees cause me to get carsick as well, especially if I am not driving.

My problem is with Organic Arabica coffee sold at walmart. Whole bean or ground.
It says in the package/canister that is 100% Guatemala certified organic coffee but I have doubts. China has recently managed to reproduce Rice by the bushels in the millions of tons by using potato and resins passed through molds that spew millions of grains of "rice" and made it through customs for who knows how long, information is from Customs, a division of Homeland Security, so..what if the beans sold at walmart claimed to be organic real coffee beans are fake? For one they are too uniform and the color looks painted. My complaint is that it's making me sick but other coffees dont. It dries my mouth right away and my body hurts within 2 hours. If I stop drinking it and buy from a coffee stand or other gas station then I'm ok. Is Wal-Mart's organic coffees. Fake?

I have been drinking Kroger brand coffee for ages. I got Maxwell House, because since I am staying home safe right now I wanted to order online. I opened the MH yesterday and after one cup started feeling grumbly in my stomach, as well as anxious and nervous, not my normal reaction to a cup of coffee. I suspected the coffee, but wanting to be sure, I tried it again today. There is definitely something wrong here. I will not be drinking anymore out of this container and will be getting the Kroger brand again. I wonder what is wrong with it?

I am not a coffee snob, but I enjoy good smooth coffee with cream & sugar. I was wanted to try a major brand name that advertised as being smooth and was a good price. Normally opening a fresh can of coffee is a joy, regardless of the brand, but upon opening this it was not pleasant. Hoping brewing would be better, I brewed like I do all my other coffee. Bad from the first drop. After masking with cream & sugar I was able to down it, but it was not an enjoyable experience. The 2nd day I brewed even more carefully and could not get past 1/2 a cup before I had to stop, The coffee aroma in the car was putrid. Absolutely undrinkable, and not pleasant to smell. Thinking I wasn't alone, I googled 'Why does Maxwell House coffee taste so bad' and it brought me to the 'Coffee Detective' website with the title 'Are Maxwell House and Folgers coffees making people sick?' with so many very recent reviews with the same thing I experienced. While I don't know what it tasted like in the past, for long time customers clearly something has changed.

As a test, and to get possibly drinkable coffee, I went to my local Stater Brothers and bought their house brand 100% Colombian Arabica ground coffee. Made it like I do all my other coffee, and its coffee. Nothing fancy, nothing overtly bad, but at least it is drinkable coffee. Not like this Maxwell House swill. I'll stick with a known good brand like Don Francisco. This Maxwell House tub is going in the trash.

I always thought all coffee made me vomit and gave me runs come to find out its Maxwell House only. I have been working 6 days a week and long hours so brought some folgers instant stick packs and could drink those with no problem. Decided to buy a can and MH was on sale so figured I would give them another try. First few sips were fine but the sip following had me coughing and gagging and eventually vomiting. I will go back to the little instant Folgers stick packs. Maxwell House has been used in my family home for over 50 years and as a teen my brothers would joke with me because I couldn't stomach it then and 30 plus years later still cant.

i have been drinking coffee for years. i bought some maxwell house for the first time in years, and have have mild to very uncomfortable headaches/migraines for the last week. after reading some comments, i'm throwing it out. i'll keep you posted.

Thought I was going crazy; but, I see based on comments in this blog that I am spot on with my concerns.
About a month ago, bought a large container of Maxwell House Original coffee grinds/Med roast. Smelled 'not as good' as used to but thought was just me so continued to perk on stove. Taste was "not as good", but thought was me again.
Few weeks ago bought at a CVS on sale locally, some kind of 'morning blend'. UGGH!! Smell was aweful and taste like something 'sour' or ?? Stopped using and will be returning.
Last week I bough small can of Original/Med roast at a different smaller popular store (known for carrying 'great' prod) Smelled 'better' but after using for 1 week..UGGH - Smell/taste change!
Just r'cvd 2 Lg Med/Orig from Amazon, opened t'day, smell 'Ok'/not great..lets see in few days.
I AM PLANNING TO EMAIL COMPANY WITH COMPLAINTS AND SEE WHAT RESULTS. (potentially FDA to find out what problem is...chemicals or..??

I have been drinking Maxwell Instant Coffee since I can remember, this is because it is the only coffee I can tolerate. I actually have a sensitive stomach and can not drink Dunkins , or any other kind. Folgers Coffee actually makes me sick to my stomach, I really hope you do not take it off the shelf for the ones that do love it and do not have a problem with it. Thank you

Seems to cause anxiety with me, been a few weeks and finally figured its the coffee, its probably from pesticide. Almost a vomit feeling as well, but i havent had to. Going back to the cheap stuff which is so much better...

Folger's and Maxwell House have given me the runs, headaches, and a nauseated feeling.

The problems have occurred each of the 3 times I've consumed these brands since approximately November 25, 2019, in Shenzhen, China, and in the U.S.A..

I’ve had ongoing diarrhea and could not find the culprit! It’s been going on for 3 years! I did my own process of elimination and found out it is from my Maxwell House coffee! Once I switched to Folgers, the diarrhea has stopped! I have done research and found that many coffee drinkers have associated their same symptoms to the Maxwell House coffee! What could be in this brand of coffee that is causing this?

I would rather base my comments on facts and not theory like everything else in the world most media filled minds are corrupted by false rumors and imagery. I noticed as a kid that folgers was chemical tasting and made me feel confused when i drank it. Maxwell house was exactly the same. This is no pepsi challenge. We also have to take into consideration human bodies change over time and certain physical problems occur that we are not aware of. The chemicals put on our foods and drinks to preserve them from mice and insects are really harmful. The companies simply have too much money invested to let a couple hundred sick people ruin it for them. Just like oil, tobacco, and alcohol they will always deny the facts. Its poisen.

Smoking is bad, so when Marlboro started putting flame retardant in cigarettes, the company "experiment" igbired consumer complaints on anger feeling/headaches. The Foldger Maxwell headaches/anger symptom? SAME. Don't buy this crap. Something added? The cereal taste tells me possibly Roundup!!!Roundup pesticide? Flame retardant? Its something bad in that coffee.

Has anyone gotten bad headaches from drinking Folgers coffee? I started having BAD headaches every single day about a year ago. Never ever thought that it could be the Folgers that I changed to from Maxwell House. Been to numerous doctors - had MRI's and MRA's - two epidurals and more - nothing helped. We were using MH ground original for a short and I was having the worst stomach issuer and the coffee was awful,like drinking chemicals. We changed to Folgers an all seemed well for about 5 months. Saw Maxwell House and bought it, today after 2 cups of coffee my husband and I are both having stomach cramps and diarrhea, miserable! I'm not looking for anything to benefit from but they need to solve the problem.

Started drinking this recently... have noticed the onset of serious stomach pain right after starting to drink it in the morning, The pain comes and goes all day. It had been two weeks now. I thought something else was triggering my discomfort but it starts right after I start my morning coffee. Pepsi Bismol soothes upon contact. I will no longer drink it and see what happens . I'm healthy as a horse and most unsettled by this current upset.

I went through 3 weeks of 2 or 3 times a week at the doctors office. They thought i may have kidney stones so started treating me for that as the systems got worse the had me take 3 rounds of different antibiotics thinking possible kidney infection or some sort of VD. but all tests and Xrays came up negative I decided to try changing coffee even though my dr said it could not be the coffee. After 3 weeks of total misery it took less than 2 days i was back to normal. Maxwell House Max IS POISON!

My parents have two one pound sealed Folgers coffee stored in the refrigerator they are outdated 4-5 years is it still good to brew

I have been a Maxwell house coffee drinker forever. But the last 2 cans I bought had a oily film on it. My coffee pot is clean. My cups are clean. What is up with the oily film?

After drinking Folgers K-cups, classic and caramel, I’ve had to vomit. There’s something in this coffee that makes me have nausea as soon as I drink it.

After reading the comments posted here I realize that these are all complaints about MH Drip or regular coffee. There is nothing here about the Instant Maxwell House coffee.

I don't drink MH but my husband does. I drink a very good coffee from a Canadian company. This morning since I was in a hurry and it was made, had a cup of MH. It was disgusting. Terrible after taste and there is definitely something in it but can't put my finger on it, yet. Even the smell of it from the can is awful. I will never drink this stuff again. I am going to persuade my husband to change to my brand.

I decided to buy & try the Maxwell House Coffee reduced acid about a month ago. Ever since & EVERYTIME i drink a cup I end up running to the bathroom with diarrhea. I've ruled out anything else it could be & since I've stopped drinking the coffee my diarrhea has subsided.... NEVER will I buy their coffee again!!

Normally I drink a different brand of coffee but decided to try Maxwell House. I do one scoop of decaf and one scoop of regular. Halfway through the can of decaf I found a bird feather amongst the ground coffee. Never feel good or right when I drink this brand of coffee will never drink it again!

I have been drinking Maxwell Medium for years and my Mom too. But for over a year the coffee tastes bitter / I have cut back on what I use for my Pot for it doesn't seem to help. What has happened to my good cup of coffee and when I open it up there is no fresh smell either ! Maxwell House coffee has no taste or coffee smell. This coffee made me sick. After examining the container could not find 'Arabica' bean. This product is not from 'Arabica'. Please let everybody know not to purchase this chemical anymore!

As fate would have it, while digging in my cabinet today, I found an old empty metal 13 or 15oz can of Maxwell house "original" coffee dated 2009.
I saved it for bolts or screws, crafts etc., and obviously forgot about it.
On the front in plain letters it says:
"100% Arabica Beans".
The new can, 11oz dated 2020 is cardboard, and says:
"Original Roast".
Nothing else, except tiny letters on the back saying 100% coffee.
Here is the unbelievable kicker.
I opened the 2009 can, and believe it or not, it smelled amazingly good inside STILL.
10 years old, and it smells better than a full new can of Maxwell house.
I wish I could post a scratch-n-sniff pic for
any doubters.
To me, this is 100% proof that there is a change.
What "coffee" means to Maxwell House is not what it used to be.

Our experience has been that every once in a while
you get a 'stale" can. Otherwise, the Maxwell House Original Roast is pretty good. I have speculated that it is a batch of bad roasted beans, a bad seal on the can etc. This is not the only product that suffers from occasional not goodness. I stopped buying bottled beer because too many were skunked. Cans only now. We buy bread and sometimes it is bad well before the sell by date. Our favorite potato chip company has wildly varying quality. Sometimes,
if general you enjoy the product, you just throw the stinkers away.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE, IT TASTE TERRIBLE AND IT SMELLS BAD. I ALWAYS LOVED MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE NOT NOW IT SO BAD THAT I WILL NOT BE BUYING IT ANYMORE.

I have been drinking Maxwell House Instant coffee each morning for years. Recently, I am having stomach distress. A burning feeling if you will and someone just told me to stop buying the coffee I am drinking. I am the only coffee drinker in the house and found it easy. No more.

I have been a dedicated MH Instant Coffee for well over 40 years. It is the only coffee I can drink that doesn't bother my stomach.
Starting this past Spring I started looking for this coffee everywhere because my local grocer wasn't carrying it. I couldn't find it no matter what. Today, I went to my local store thinking I was going to buy store brand and there was a sign that said, "Due to processing difficulties we will no longer be carrying Maxwell House Instant Coffee until further notice." All they had on the shelves was Folgers Instant. I hate Folgers. Even in a pinch its disgusting. It tastes burnt, bitter etc. (I drink black instant.) If I try to drink DD I have to add cream for my stomach. I've tried black but after 2 sips I'm looking for an antacid.
I don't use drip/perked and your K-Cups are too strong not to mention expensive.

I’be seen these same complaints posted here for years, since 2012 actually. That’s the year I found this site and saw I wasn’t the only person experiencing bad tasting coffee from both these popular brands. That year I switched to buying my coffee from a local small roaster AND never looked back. Since 2012 I’ve seen small local roasting businesses explode everywhere so no matter where one lives now there should be a local roaster in your area or close by. If not you can order from most all & manny offer coffee subscriptions. Our coffee we brew at home is 100 times better than when MH & Folgers we’re still good.

A short while back, my husband and I started smelling a foul, bitter coffee smell in our house. We thought it was the coffee pot. We bought a new one and still have the smell. Our coffee pot brews, then holds the coffee for us, keeping it warm. We now cannot stomach the smell or taste of the perked coffee. It lingers. We have nausea, mild headaches and fatigue, and can’t escape the smell. It seems to have also affected our taste buds. We thought we had colds and sinus infections, but now wonder if the Reduced Caffeine Maxwell House and Folgers coffees do contain a fungus or insecticides, since we tried new containers of both. We are happy to find this site and are encouraged to contact the company. Has anyone else had these symptoms?

I Have been using MH French Roast coffee for many years and the last 3 cans of coffee has delivered a bitter taste.

My husband has been drinking Maxwell House Instant for decades. While personally I think any instant coffee tastes horrible, nevertheless I do make sure to keep on hand for my husband. However, lately can't find it anywhere, not on store shelves, not online. Can anyone verify if it has been discontinued? Some of the comments on this site mention that the quality of Maxwell House has gone downhill. Maybe just temporarily unavailable until quality issue remedied?

I have been an instant coffee drinker since about the age of 15 in the last three or four years I have suffered migraine headaches very frequent urine episodes thought the plumbing was going when they took it off the shelf and I had to change brand that headache stopped and so did the frequent urination I wonder what I was drinking

Why is there NOT Maxwell House Instant Coffee on the store shelves. I haven't found the answer. Store clerks don't know why..... it seems no one knows.

I've been drinking this coffee for years, but there is something wrong with the last jar I bought. It doesn't smell like coffee and doesn't taste like coffee. Very odd taste, like chemicals. I threw it out. Can't drink it and returning it to the store. I'll have to find another brand. Very disappointed because I used to like it a lot.

I have been drinking Maxwell House Instant Coffee for years. About 6 months ago, I couldn't find it at any supermarket or mass merchandise chain. I finally found and bought a jar, it smelled very flat, NO coffee smell at all, and it tasted very odd. It didn't mix well with the boiling water, and was a total disappointment. Was it discontinued, or just cheaper beans are being used? I now am trying other brands. If the last jar I had is an indication of what this product has turned into, I will never purchase it again.

My husband has been an instant maxwell house coffee drinker for years. He has broke out in hives and rashes from the instant coffee. I preferred the percolate maxwell house. I never suffered from migraines but after drink some coffee, I had a 2 day migraine. We have since switched. No more hives or migraines. Something is definitely up and wrong with Maxwell house coffee.

Maxwell House has not gone bad. Ive been drinking it for 50 years. As they say good to the last drop. This seems like a scheme to collect ill gotten gains for pain and suffering. Enough with all these idiots. I now have to buy my Maxwell House online at a higher price. Thanks a lot jerks.

I actually thought I was crazy having headache if I missed a cup. I only been drinking it 2 years from the first month headache came. So I tried another brand still the something. Went back to Maxwell house and the headache went away. Now I know that it is other people going through the something

I began drinking maxwell house instant sugar free coffee about 9 days ago. Today being the 9th and last. After multiple trips to the restroom for days &. The first day of this hell vomiting as well I have ruled out every other single thing in my diet to the coffee.

The moment I drink it I have to run to the restroom. Today on my 9th day I had to come
Home from work because I am dizzy, weak and nauseous.

I cannot get this poison out of my system fast enough. I have missed days of work, missed several appointments etc.

Do not drink this stuff it’s making me so sick & only getting worse by the day. I can’t beleiev it’s taken me this long to figure out.

Please note I have problems with no other coffee!!!

I've been feeling nauseous for the last few weeks. This is also the time when I switched to drinking Folgers instant coffee. At one point after a couple weeks of drinking, I noticed there was an odd chemical taste/smell to the coffee. I wrote it off as nothing as this was new to me. However, I have been increasingly feeling more nauseous. So at this point I googled folgers recall and the top link was an article about people feeling sick after drinking Folgers. I am going to stop drinking it to see if I get to feeling better.

Maxwell house wake up roast lists "100% coffee" ingredients but does not show that there are added flavorings which obviously contain gluten. Someone has to warn people with celiac because Maxwell house labeling is incorrect.

No instant Maxwell?

No Maxwell House Instant Jar coffee on shelves in stores. What happened? Plenty of ground coffee but i don't want ground coffee.

I have been drinking Maxwell House instant for over 40 years. Any change would be instantly noticed, and it did. But let's go back to when the larger jars started do vanish from the shelves of three different stores. only small jars were available and in limited quantities. So I scrambled to buy the last two small jars at my local grocery. The third mug of coffee contained a dead spider!!! well that jar went to the garbage. The second and last jar has a non coffee taste. it is hard to describe but I can smell the difference as I add hot water and the taste is best described as flat, with a strange after taste that cannot be described as pleasant but not offensive. To be blunt it is boring and extremely disappointing. I will have to hunt down a different brand that not only coffee tasting but arachnid free.

Drank Maxwell house coffee for years now when I drink it I get headaches and stomach cramps/diarrhea.Its like there is poison in it! When I finally realized it was unmistakably the Maxwell coffee I googled it and sure enough, it's a thing! Going to contact company!

MyMy family's Coffee for over 70 years was Maxwell.So you can imagine my surprise when I broke out in a TERRIBLE ALLERGIC REACTIONALL OVER MY BODY. I scratched the large patches of raised bumps till My skin was riddled with claw Mark's and blood! WTF!!! What is going on? I am pisssed! For the past couple weeks I've been getting very very ill. Just realized it's the coffee. It's even Carling perfectly good Coffee-Mate. Just realized this after losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks not being able to eat. I seriously thought I was dying. So I looked up Maxwell House and other people getting sick and Wallah there it is. I remember going through something like this before with Chase and Sanborn about about 30 years ago. Good taste changed and had a horrible smell like sewage. Not getting that smell with Maxwell House but same reactions.

Why can you not find instant in the stores now. Have you stop making it.

I am allergic to wheat and gluten and just had a reaction to Folgers ground decaf coffee. My throat and tongue started swelling as I was sipping the brewed coffee. There has to be some sort of contamination in their processing and they should put the cross contamination on the label.

Same experience here. 10 years plus Maxwell house ground coffee. New can.new packaging.5 tips to to toilet in one day. Burning in my stomach. Acidic burping. And it tastes bitter. Gross.

I went 2 days with no home brew maxwell. Problem stopped.
Only after the diarrhea returned after I made coffe at home did I connect the brown dots. Garbage coffee.

The last two jars of Maxwell House coffee I used foamed when I put it in hot water. Now I noticed they pulled it from the shelves in the stores we shop in. I'd really like to know what's going on.

I have experienced the same thing with instant maxwell house coffee. I have been drinking it for years -loved it. But recently its been horrible. Doesnt even smell like coffee. I too feel neaseas after drinking it. Im wondering why it is not carried in walmart or stop and shop anymore. I hope it hasnt had any carcinogenics in it !

I drank a Maxwell House coffee and it was really good. Then I woke up only to find that it was a terrible dream.

Bought Maxwell House k cups yesterday at Walmart.. Drank 2 cups this morning. Shortly thereafter, I experienced extreme nausea, stomach cramps and disrharrea (sp). This led in a few hours to vomiting, this got me feeling a bit better. Hydrated with cola, no problem. Drank another Maxwell House, and nausea has returned big time.

No. Many more comments and reviews say otherwise. Neither brands have made me ill. I googled multiple times online for other sites, social media, and forums about this same topic of these brands making people ill, but I see the vast majority come from Coffee Detective forums and social media profiles like Facebook and Pinterest. Otherwise, most comments and reviews are pretty positive or just talk about taste and not sicknesses. I will, however, exercise caution and use my best judgement.

Considering that Maxwell House has always tasted like the cheapest coffee you can get, I always assumed it to be something swept off the floor of a cheap coffee production facility. Anyways, if you like cheap coffee flavor, some companies that supply coffee to business peddle super low grade coffee, so you may find something you like from one of those outfits.

The coffee has not only changed but all brands have changed. It taste like pure mud. You are buying coffee with rust fungus and the farmers are not replacing there trees, quite buying coffee. It is making me sick and I am sure every one else as well. stop drinking Maxwell house, Kroger, Walmart great value, and general dollar. They will not take from shelves out of date coffee until all is sold from their warehouses. We need to try to see if coffee from Vietnam is better with no Rust Fungus.

it does not taste good at all. I purchased it just to see if fresh is bad, and Yes its bad. Cannot compare it o president choice. (good) Tim Hortons ( better) McDontalds ( OKay) but Maxwell house only smells like coffee when you open the Can. Its tastes like a week smelly Blah ..

For years I have been drinking Folgers Classic roast from Costco. The big one in the plastic container. Two years ago I presented with horrid sulfur burps followed by literally peeing out of my rear, Van Wilder style. Went to a GI doc who ran tests and said I had H. Pylori. Figured it was the Splenda I used so I quit Splenda and it went away (with antibiotics as well). Then I started getting the symptoms again and realized I had gone BACK to Folgers C.R. and had been drinking more expensive coffee the last 2 years in it's place. Now seeing everyone else with issues gives me a little hope that I'm correct. The question still remains though, what are the companies doing to cause this and alleviate our issues?

I have been enjoying the flavored ground Maxwell House coffees (Hazelnut and French Vanilla) for well over a decade, and I notice now that neither tastes like the flavors they're supposed to and the coffee smells and tastes nasty. I usually buy a lot of them when they go on sale. I'll be returning the last back for a full refund, I'd rather go cold turkey than to waste money on garbage. I will check out beans from trader joe's and hopefully I can find a brand with a decent taste that isn't overpriced. This is just par for the course, so many foods/brands just aren't as good as they used to be and I have no doubt that is from the fat cats cutting corners (hidden inflation).

I did a search trying to figure out why I get so sick with Foldgers Coffee. I can drink other coffee with no problem. I haven’t tried Maxwell House yet.
I’m thinking it’s the natural pesticide in Robusta Beans that I’m sensitive too.

I have drank Maxwell House (Dark Roast being my favorite) for 20+ years. Not sure what they have done to it, but I cannot even stomach to open the can anymore. The smell is horrible, when brewing it smells horrible and the taste is even worse. Cannot seem to find a delicious cup of coffee--have tried ALL kinds of brands and they have a terrible smell and taste. I remember when you made a pot of coffee the entire house smelled so good. Now it smells like "burning dirt". (best comparison I can think of) Wish they would go back to what they were doing about 3-4 years ago. Not sure what changes they have made, but it STINKS! Literally. Cheaper beans but higher prices......not sure what it is.

Just bought the colombian and it's super bitter. I don't ever remember it being thud bad growing up. Ive been drinking folgers since and it's much better. Maxwell house is either using bad beans r were all getting stale coffee.

Just started using Folgers about 4 weeks now. Kept getting terrible headaches and have been speculating that it was the Folgers. Now, after reading all these posts, I'm convinced! This carp is going right in the trash.

After doing a quick search I have found the NESTLES company has produced and distributed thousands of GMO coffee plants around the world. Do a search on GMO coffee beans and you will find a wealth of information on the subject along with a long list of Nestles coffee products. This may or may not be the cause of the problems I too am experiencing with Folgers and Maxwell house coffee. All I know is this never happened to me before reticently and I have been a heavy coffee drinker for over 50 years.

Just opened a new can of Maxwell House Columbian coffee this morning and made a fresh pot of coffee.
That was the worst smelling and tasting coffee I've ever had from MHC. It had a burnt taste and the coffee grounds smelled strange ,nothing like coffee. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have been using Maxwell House Gourmet for several years and have not had any problems. It's the best for my taste. I mix it with the decaf and have it twice a day. I have tried the other flavors and the gourmet is the one I like the best.I live in Maryland and wonder if this isn't a regional problem.

A clan se friend and I have a personal joke that I will share my end of it. When I leave this earthly body please put my remains in a Maxwell House can.I am very serious about this. Folgers Columbian has been my favorite for years. The last container tasted weird so I switched to another brand. Not only was I enjoying a better cup (Starbucks), my stomach began to feel better!

I had been buying Maxwell House French Roast K-cups for years and years. I'd say within the last year or so they changed their beans or blend or something. Their coffee is now terrible! I've tried a couple times to go back to it, but it not the old great taste. I no longer buy it.

I bought Folgers Coffee because it went on sale. After drinking it for several mornings I noticed I felt worse and worse. I had so much gastrointestinal distress with bloating and gas that I could not get a deep breath. I am 53 years old and blessed with good health. I have not been to the doctor in years but my issue was so bad I finally had to go. They are checking me for an ulcers and gallstones but the doctor asked me if I had made any changes in my diet lately and I mentioned the change in coffee. She suggested I stop drinking it and I did. It’s been a week and I’m much better. Still having bouts of diarrhea but thankful I’m better. I will never drink Folgers coffee again and from reading these other posts will never drink Maxwell House either.

I started having these headaches a couple of weeks ago, and I'm a person who seldom has headaches. I remember reading about Maxwell House coffee causing headaches in some people. I had opened, and been using, a new container of Maxwell House French Roast about the same time the headaches started. I stopped using the Maxwell House and started using another brand and the headaches stopped.

Maxwell house coffee makes me vomit every time i drink it. Store didn't have folders Colombian so i took my chances with maxwell colombian. Big mistake i am now feeling like i need to vomit and my stomach feels twisted. Nasty coffee. Folgers cooffee give me no problems. But i prefer chuck full o nuts.

My husband loves buying Maxwell House, though I like buying better quality. We went through a stint a few years ago where I humored him and we drank it all the time. I started having heachaches, sometime nausea and overall feelings of "yuck" after I would drink it, it seemed to get worse over time. I then realized when I switched off of it, it stopped happening. We laid off of buying it for a while. He just started buying it again, and we have been mixing it with higher quality coffee so stretch it, and I started feeling yucky again and almost didn’t even realize that was the reason until we ran out and only used the better quality and the symptoms stopped. I am an avid coffee drinker for years so this is not due to caffeine. I truly think the Maxwell House makes me feel bad and I do not know why. Makes me wonder what chemicals they are using on the plants. I was searching to see if anyone else had experienced this and ran across this page. Thanks for letting me share!

I’ve been drinking Folgers Classic roast medium coffee for awhile, I can’t drink a lot of caffeine or I’m super wired so I only drink it occasionally. Over the last few weeks anytime I’d try the class blend I’d feel nauseous and get a bad migraine that would last all day. After the 3rd time I started thinking it was because it was caffeinated so I went and bought the Folgers classic decaf medium blend and I’m still have the same side effects! Never thought it could just be the product until i ran across this thread. Now it’s got me worried, what in the world is wrong with their coffee!! I won’t be drinking any Folgers from now on.

I usually grind my own beans but found myself in a place where my only option was buying ground coffee. I bought Folgers and the first time I drank it, had to run to bathroom. Tried it again the next day and BAM! was sick from both ends. Needless to say, I am pitching the rest. After about a half hour I was fine so I know it was definitley the coffe and now I see others have experienced the same thing.

Glad I’m not the only one. I’ve been drinking Folgers for years and this last co gained I bought of it tastes and smells like formaldehyde. It’s really awful!

I for one use to like Maxwell House but find that its taste leaves a lot to be desired,but it's other coffees as well,and you pay enough for coffee

folder's from sam's has been making me very sick. I stopped drinking it and felt fine drinking coffee. but i used some today and feel very ill again. My husband has no ill-effect to the folder's.

I started fighting a rash on my neck and chest and back of shoulders, been eliminating foods and reducing coffee drinking in the morning. It’s somewhat better. In the last week hubby now has the rash as well now. I started to suspect the coffee which is Maxwell House! Today I thought I’d look up Maxwell House coffee and rashes and lo and behold landed here OMG! I’m going to have us stop and drink tea to see if this will go away. Last week I skipped two days of coffee and the rash went away but I did not make the connection!as I stopped alcohol as well! Well started drinking the coffee again and not the alcohol RASH is back! We’ve been drinking this for years - ! It’s got to be either a pesticide or whatever they’re doing to the coffee to process it!

I don't care what kind one buys in maxwell coffee it always haseems the floating oil and leaves film inside the cup. It is gross and no longer good to the last drop.

We have always had Maxwell house coffee. Over the past few months I noticed that I no longer enjoyed my coffee. I only drink it once a day, but began getting a horrible sour stomach. Like constantly acidic! Waves of naseua, and on and off headaches. I can't believe this is happening to so many people. I'm definitely weaning myself off it. I thought the different smell was just my senses, and getting older. I'm really shocked.

I so missed my percolator after years in the coffee desert "yeah I'm looking at you Mr Coffee and Keurig".
I had to redeem myself and picked up a Farberware percolator ... I had remembered Maxwell House as a decent brand I had bought while also getting a few others.
But the coffee ugh! I made it too strong first pot and thought well that's my fault, I couldn't remember if I used 4 heaping measuring cups or less than heaping.
Well the third day it turned out too weak "BUT" it actually looked normal when poured- what I'm getting to here is I believe they are messing with the coloring of the coffee!
Sure enough todays batch of coffee was near on perfect not too strong not too weak (the taste though was "dusty") but the milk I usually use (whole milk) turned a grey color not the light brown I had become accustomed to.
I blame the change on Keurig machines popularity ... that thin stream of coffee must look weak without added coloring to make it look good.
AS far as the bad taste I blame that on cheape coffee beans- I've had that taste before in restaurants that cut corners and have piss poor coffee as a result.

I have drank the MH master blend for years. So months back I noticed it tasted very bitter. Thought it was my keurig so I cleaned. No better. Bought a new coffee maker....no better!! So disappointed.

God damn, I thought it was the brewer I was using, because this started happening after a got a new one. It seems as though that that was just a coincidence. I'm a person who has drank 3 cups of coffee a day with no ill effects, but one glass of MH and I'm getting extreme coffee jitters.

I guess I'll have to find another brand.

Maxwell house coffee has been on sale for awhile now. Currently it is a bogo. I think they are trying to get rid of a bad supply. I have been a coffee drinker for years with no problems. Don’t know what is going on but mh coffee is horrible tasting as of late tried switching roasts from light to dark tried using my French press but no avail I’m done been with stomach problems for a week and wife is braking out in rash until someone figures it out I’m done with mh

I bought a can of original roast from Walmart. Two hours after the first cup and I had diarrhea. Everything else I ate or drunk was my normal diet. Not trying it again.

Its not just MH it's folgers as well, noticed about a week ago my coffee was not tasting the same, subsequently got another can thinking i may have gotten a bad batch (?) guess i'm not buying folgers anymore, Never mess with a man's woman, money, or morning coffee!!!!

The two companies in the Comment Title own MH and Folgers. These coffees have been horrible for years now. Neither smell like coffee (opening the container) nor taste like coffee once brewed. Anyone reading comments here should know not to buy these products—-no telling what’s in those grounds. If any of you want REAL COFFEE, seek out a local roaster in your area OR check online for coffee sources to order from. Many who have no local source order coffee online—fresh roasted just prior to shipping. If you must buy coffee in your grocery store then buy only coffee in vented bags.

I have been drinking Maxwell House Columbian for as long as I can remember recently purchased a 2 pound can of Columbian it was house blend which I hate and will not drink it's expensive if it happens again I will not buy anymore Maxwell House

I developed a rash on my face, neck, chest & back. Stopped drinking Maxwell House Coffee & it went away. Started drinking it again & rash came back. Something is definitely up with Maxwell House Coffer

Maxwell House used to have a good brew of coffee back in the 90's, Maxwell House 1892 Slow Roasted Coffee, in fact the whole name on the can was, Maxwell House Limited Edition 1892-1982 Coffee. It came in a blue can with white and yellow old script lettering. If you find and ask anyone who drank it, a lot of them would tell you it's the best off the shelf coffee they've ever had. And then *poof* it was gone and the supermarket said it wasn't available anymore.

After reading these reviews, Heinz and Maxwell House might do well to bring back this great coffee. Go ahead and Google this coffee and you'll see what I mean!! I haven't bought any Maxwell House coffee products since then. The worst part is when you call to complain they try to give you discount coupons. Sorry it sucks now and even if you give it away for free, it still sucks. Keep your discount coupons bozo's, I'm moving on. Good luck with your headaches and diarrhea people.

Nope---I am 67 years old and have/had bathroom issues for years and when something sends me there with diarhhea--it's a major issue with me.
It is the coffee--Folger's instant.

I have a condition and have had for years...I need Senna Leaves EVERY day to perform.
I use generic instant coffees like Dollar General brand; not the best, cheap, but I am not a big coffee drinker --just in winters.
My husband bought Folger's Classic Roast because DG was out(or he said) and the first time I tried it, diarrhea.
I laid off for a few days, had a cup, and after 6 hours, diarrhea.
Folks, it's the coffee.
I will keep it for when my senna leaves don't work.
But, trust me--IT'S THE COFFEE BRAND.
I have never in 40 years had this happen.
So, what gives??

Glad I found this thread! I've been having terrible morning runs since starting a can of Dark Roast MH coffee. It felt like I had the flu every day. After reading this thread I'm tossing the coffee and sticking with Eight O'Clock's Bokar blend. I'd recycle the coffee by giving it to the food bank but I don't want to put anyone in harm's way.

I have a keurig and quit buying canned coffee. I recently got a little pod for my keurig because I wanted to try the Maxwell house boost max. I tried it Sunday afternoon and evening, for I work third shift. I worked and then slept and woke up with a terrible headache. I didn't think anything of it having to do with the coffee so I continued drinking it. By day 3 of waking up with a headache I switched back to my Starbucks bright sky blend and woke up today with no headache. Coincidence? I think not.

I have always drank Maxwell house coffee but lately its tasted real weak. So i bought the dark roast and still taste terrible and weak. I thought maybe it was my ninja coffee pot going up but no its the coffee.

Bought MH Dark Roast coffee and drank 3 cups this morning and am now feeling really out of sorts. I have blurred vision,low grade headache with some mild dizziness accompanied with stomach issues. At first I thought I was coming down with something but after my husband and my daughter drank it they ended up feeling very close to the same. We were all fine before we drank the coffee.. Can't say 100% for sure that MH is the reason for this but we are all starting to feel better as the day goes on. It smells great in the can but as you brew it kind of smells like burnt oranges and hair? The taste is not great but not awful either. Surprising really, as you would expect that something that would makes you feel this bad, would taste so much worse.

Got a large container of McCafe from Walmart and it tasted crappy.
Without knowing I called the Kraft Heinz company listed on the can and complained.
The lady said she'd send coupons for Maxwell House!! She slipped up.

Arabica beans are of HIGHER quality tasting. This is a good move for MH. If you buy k cups you are buying arabica.

I am 67 years old. Love my Maxwell Coffee as it was "good to the last drop". Well not anymore. Can't get through a cup. We are off to another brand not to return. It was so bitter and made me physically sick to my stomach. Since switching brands I can not enjoy a cup of coffee again. Bye bye to an old friend.

My sister has been complaining of morning diahrrhea after her customary Maxwell house two cups of coffee. She came from the midwest out to my house in CA where we have Nespresso coffee each morning and the problem stopped immediately.

I bought Maxwell House Instant Original last month. After noticing black pieces floating in it, I picked one out and found it was a piece of stretchy rubber or elastic (black). I dissolved more and poured it through a paper towel and found lots of pieces of the material. I reported it and Canada food agency picked it up from me to do testing on. MH gave me a $4 coupon that expired in a month. Not imoressed. Haven't heard results of testing yet, but my local store pulled that batch from shelves just to be safe.

We have been drinking Folgers Classic for years. Bought a large container at Costco. After opening the sealed container, it did not smell right. Not like normal coffee. Made pot of coffee in the same coffee maker we always use, but really tasted terrible. This has happened only once before couple years ago. So, there is probably some issue with the beans that were used in that lot.

I have imbibed Maxwell house coffee for years. But since this September I have bought and returned 2 containers from 1 grocer. Both were terrible. I bought a different blend from another store and it was very weak. I bought another from a 3rd. Store and it tastes pretty bad. I guess I will use a different brand fron here on out.

I bought Maxwell House coffee last week for the first time and immediately started having the runs and significant intestinal upset. I switched back to my old brand and got better. Tried the MH again and sure enough the intestinal problems were back. Tried searching online and Maxwell House Coffee Diarrhea AUTOCOMPLETED in the search. I suspect there is some kind of filler they have added which is NOT coffee. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!

It's been a few months since I last bought a can, did they mess with it? I'm really worried it tastes as bad as hills brothers now. (Arrg) If that's the case I'm buying Dunk' Donuts (That coffee is super yummy.) Wonder if they make organic?

I bought some Hills brothers coffee to save a couple of dollars. I'm never ever doing that again.

Hills brothers has an oily smell that's sharp and gnarly. Its flavor is weak, acidic and truly disgusting. No amount of creamer and sugar helps. Blarrg.

I can't wait until this can is used up so I can go buy some more Maxwell house!

Maxwell house coffee has a rich inviting smell that will work its way throughout the apartment and has a sweet thick richness to it that makes my mouth water. It'ss tase has a light fruity-ness to it and I swear tastes like chocolate after swallowing. (If creamer and sugar has been added.)

How the hell does Hills brothers stay in business? Nasty stuff.

I have used Maxwell House dark roast coffee forever. Within the past 2 months I have noticed that the smell when it is brewing has a sickening smell, kinda like burning hair. Then the taste is now less than desirable. Also at work we have had people complain when they walk in that the smell is horrible and it only happens someone is brewing a pot of coffee. Not sure what MH has changed, but it is horrible. No longer do you get that great smell of the brew, but the taste is disgusting. Even when you first open it, it does not have the same great "fresh coffee" smell in the container. Not sure what they changed, but they need to go back to the old version. New & improved is not always better. Now searching for a GOOD cup of coffee.

Frankly, I can't stomach barista brews--typically they're brewed very strong and seem to be "over-roasted beans" or use a brewing method that maximizes the acidity. Shelf coffees traditionally had a mild roast and flavor that appealed to the "generic" household. The best coffees are a matter of taster's choice, meaning some persons can tolerate more acid than others in their brew. More acid leading to a more bitter taste and volatile gastric reaction. It seems the incorrect perception being that the more acrid the taste or smell, the more caffeine which is not true because decaffeinated blends can be as acrid in taste and smell.

There's the famous office coffee brewers who load up the coffee filter with grounds which produces a saturated and acrid tasting witch's cauldren brew requiring dilution or tons of sugar and cream to bring some semblance of taste.

Of course, if the tongue's taste buds have been dullened by smoking, pharmaceuticals or other abuses, a strong acrid brew is required and shelf brands only suffice if concentrated.

The best coffee I've experienced is from roasted beans that I ground, then precisely measured grindings (according to the standard coffee brewing recipe) into filter and drip-brewed using filtered water. Deviate from the standard recipe and the stuff you're drinking is a concentrated, toxic brew.

Really, I thinks some of these comments about people getting ill might be over the top. That being said, Maxwell House, Folgers, Chock Full o' Nuts etc aren't very good coffee. Yeah back in the days before Americans got exposed to good coffee they did their job. What I call Diner coffees just don.t make it any more. There are so many better choices now. Once coffee is ground it begins to loose its flavor almost immediately even if it's vacuumed packed. I suspect when MH and the other grocery store brands were packed in a can you needed a can operner to open the vacuum seal was better and perhaps it stayed a little fresher and why we might remember a little more flavor.

It always seemed to create a pungent aroma whenever someone was brewing a pot--and, in those days, it was a boiling, roiling, and perculating experience that raised an aroma I can only say resembled that of a wet horse or dog.

I don't know what they have done but this coffee smells like crap and I am not looking forward to tomorrow morning

Recently I had to buy a new coffee pot, so I got a regular Mr. Coffee Maker, about 30 some dollars, so I bought Maxwell for a change, usually use Foldgers, now when I go get my second cup there is so much junk floating around the top of my coffee, yuk, not sure if this is the coffee or the coffee maker, I did not notice this with Foldgers coffee, so confused what's causing the junk, going to go back to Foldgers and see if that nasty looking stuff is floating around in my second cup.☕️

A few years ago I tried Maxwell House coffe. After about a week I was experiencing migraines every day. After a doctor visit and very strong meds, the migraines didn't stop. I realized the only change in my life was the coffee. I went back to my normal brand which cost a little more, but in the end realized it was so worth it. Never again.

I recently bought a can of ground, medium roast, MH coffee. Every morning I have 1 single cup of coffee. Since starting the Maxwell house, after my morning cup of coffee, i become naseous and vomit.....EVERY MORNING!!! then the migraines come!!! Stopped drinking the MH and believe it or not, the symptoms stop.

My word, was I glad to find this thread where others have been expressing their disdain for Maxwell House.

I've never been a MH drinker, I don't recall ever trying it, but I have had lots of different coffee brands and let me tell you...

My entire family has used the Columbian for many years. Then about a month or so ago, we noticed the flavor was drastically different. We bought a new coffee pot and a new water filter, and it still tastes horrible. I accused my hubby of slipping in some other brand or type. The label still says 100% Coumbian. We're going to have to switch brands because it's absolutely horrible. The lovely rich Columbian flaver is gone. Bye-bye Maxwell House.

I had been vomiting every morning. I realized it was the Maxwell House so we switched brands. A few weeks go by and I vomitted again. So I told my husband I suppose have to quit coffee all together because I got sick again. He informed me that we had ran out of the new brand so he had used the Maxwell House again. Needless to say I threw out the Maxwell House and now am enjoying my morning coffee again... nausea frre

I've liked & used Folgers Instant coffee for many,many years.

I began buying Maxwell House Breakfast coffee in January. I began having stomach pains and the runs. I did not make the connection since I drank coffee for 50 years.

However, a few days ago, I bought a new can of Maxwell House and both my husband and I said it tasted awful. I switched to Folgers and my gastrointestinal problems have abated. I am going to look for an organic coffee.

I contacted the company about the terrible taste, but they have not responded.

I too have had to toss out several cans of French Roast MaxwellHouse . It has absolutely no flavor. I phoned the company and they have no explanation. They did send me some coupons to replace the defective product but the replacement was just as horrible. All I want is a good cup of coffee . I'm glad to read that my tastebuds aren't shot.

The reason I post my comments is that, I too have been feeling nauseous lately and the taste of the MH coffee is acrid and I have now switched to grinding my own beans and now drink tea on occasion instead of MH. I wonder if our Canadian Food Inspection Agency has been contacted.

We buy all folders coffee. It was making me sick as well. Stomach got very acidic, nothing helped to get rid of it except to stop drinking coffee all together. I used to love coffee. I never had more than 2 cups a day.

I can remember waking up at 5am every morning when I was a child just to spend time with my dad over a cup of coffee. Coffee is a very special time for me in the mornings, and the nostakgia associated to my morning time ritual is immeasurable. My dads coffee was ALWAYS Maxwell House. Over the years, I've tried my own coffee brands and because of my love for coffee (my association to my dad when he was alive), and even becme a barista at one point. I've bought all the good coffees, but recently finding ourselves in a bind, we went back to MWH that was on sale. We've been trying to get through the can and just... CANT. Since opening this can, the flavor is horrific (chemically- not a rich cup of jo. That's not what I remember with my dad.. MWH used to be really good cheap coffee!) And every cup ive had, I get the WORST stomach pains I've ever had. Ive never had a cup of coffee hurt my stomach so bad! Very intense pains... And I drink a LOT of,coffee. I've tried a LOT of coffees. Sorry guys but pass on the MWH and pay that extra bit more for something that actually tastes right and doesnt kill your innards. Wont be buying MWH again, as I see C/S doesnt reply. Sad, sad, sad. MWH with my dad was a great memory! Sadly it will stay just that.

I have no idea what happened. Maxwell used to make decent instant coffee and was my prime pick during my early university days when I was saving every penny as they had a good taste to price ratio.

Over the last 2 months, I found myself disliking the taste. Something felt off on one of the packages I purchased, so I purchased another, and then another.

All three had the same issue... a nasty smell to the grind, and an even worse taste.

After years of loyalty to the brand, I am now switching to Nescafe. It's more on the expensive side, but at least it tastes like coffee rather than a mix of cumin-curry chocolate.

Me, my friends, and family have been discussing how Maxwell House coffee taste has changed. At first my mom said she thought it was her coffee maker so she kept cleaning it and found that her neighbors also found the taste of Maxwell House to have changed, we are all looking for a new coffee, and so far we are using the store brand, such as Kroger, not bad, but it is still not as good as the old way which Maxwell House use to make their coffee.

In the past 6 months I have found that Maxwell House Instant Coffee has opened up and smells stale not fresh anymore, and the taste is the same, stale. I tried making sure I purchased different sizes from different stores and different areas of New York State. Same stale result. I sent them an email and will see if they answer me. I am now searching for a better coffee. So sad if it is because they are using a cheaper bean. I rather pay a little more for a better coffee.

I switched from Nescafe to Maxwell House 3 in 1 sachets and developed an extremely painful skin rash, migraines and tiredness.

I went back to my old favourite and the symptoms stopped after a couple of days, never again will I purchase their so called coffee it is RUBBISH.

I've noticed the last year or so that maxwell house brands using the paper cans with the foil tops stale when purchased . The foil tops , which should be taut , showing a good vacuum seal , are wrinkled and loose . The lack of vacuum allows the coffee to spoil , dry out and go stale. That's why there is no rich coffee smell when the con is opened . I've used Yuban for many years and never gotten a stale can , until maxwell house bought the brand and started packaging in paper can with foil tops. Now I dig through cans in the market to find one that has'nt lost its vacuum seal. Without the vacuum you get stale spoiled coffee that taste horrible.

you smoke? well...if you re a card carrying dedicated smoker....luckys do the trick. harsh....and flavorful...gets the job done. well, same here. HONESTLY...i dont smoke....and i LIKE maxwell house. it s not bitter like dollar store mexican coffee. its a step above that. not the best..but ok. been around for a while ya know.

im not an expert...but i drink my coffee without sugar...just cream....so i feel that makes me a bit more qualified abt reviewing it. ITS not my favorite. BUT....its like sushi....i guess youre supossed to say bad stuff abt maxwell house. i saw burning log ashes....etc. my opinion.....its the LUCKY STRIKE of coffees. meaning....if youre a real coffee drinker...it ll be ok. Ok, So I've been drinking dark roast coffee from a local coffee shop for a year or so. Decided to go cheaper and bought Maxwell House from Sam's Club. WOW!! I mean, WOW!! I've been so sick, like major stomach issues. I thought I was getting the flu. In a bad way. Then, I stopped drinking Maxwell house and went back to my good old coffee house bagged coffee. NEVER again EVER will i buy Maxwell House. The stuff is fine if you need cleared out. Other than that, it's not worth the grief.

Over the past 6 months both my wife and I have noticed our Maxwell House coffee has become weaker. We have used MH (ground in large tins) for years
but are now actively looking for a substitute.

Maxwell House used to be a reasonable price and have a good flavor.
In the last two cans I bought, there has been a huge problem.
It just doesn't smell or taste like coffee.
It tastes like chemicals.
I can't drink it or smell it.
I'm not sure what they are doing to it?
(I thought maybe they were spraying the beans with chemicals.)
I have read the label for changes. Can't tell.
Just know it is horrible.

I am throwing away the remainder of the coffee and trying a different brand.

got real sick off of 4 days of drinking it. made me nauseous and headachey.absolutely miserable.changed brands,it went away.used to drink it years ago,never had a problem with it.don't know whats up.

I have noticed something floating after making a cup and it looked like tiny ants or nats. I threw it out and another time when it happened, I checked the can and I could see something tiny moving around in it. I threw it out again and checked my cabinet and cleaned it out and found nothing so I put the next can in an air tight container and found another bug floating today. Has anyone else found bugs in theirs? Just curious. I have been drinking this coffee for years but plan to stop now.

I have tried lots of different brands of coffee over the last 35 yrs and I allways go back to folgers it just seems to be the best my parents allways drink hills brothers wich is ok but I like folgers better anyway that's my 2 cents hope this helps someone have a good cup of coffee

Some one here just commented they saw Maxwell House rated number one on CR (Consumer Reports). After 20 yrs I cancelled my CR membership in March this yr. Over recent yrs I found their ratings not reliable---this CR rating of MH mentioned here is a good example. Look for better coffees than parent cos Kraft and Smuckers offer. There are lots to choose from in stores but BEST is buying fresh beans from a local roaster. SUPPORT LOCAL COFFEE ROASTERS in you area.

It might surprise you that, recently, original Maxwell House canister coffee placed number one on the CR taste tests. I couldn't find the kind of beans they use on their label, so I didn't buy it. I, personally, prefer the Arabica because it doesn't taste as bitter to me.

I find the dark roasts of coffee easier on my stomach and I love coffee. So I tried the mwh rich dark roast. Sorry but it is the worst coffee I've had in a long time. I couldn't get through 1 cup.

After working as a barista at several artisan coffee shops, I once again tasted Maxwell Coffee when my mom bought it for her house.

It's literal burnt coffee. When training to be a barista you learn how the coarseness of the grind effects coffee and how each bean has a height of taste that you must dial for. You also learn to taste the sourness, fruitiness, and bitter nuances.

It's just shit coffee. Folgers is better than Maxwell Crap Coffee. JUST SAYING.

I usually grind my own coffee but when I asked my friend to pick me up some coffee he came back with Folgers ground coffee. Now I find myself feeling ill whenever I drink it! I was curious so searched online and found this page - I guess it's good to know I'm not the only one

Im into health and suppliments and usually know when something with my body is not right....

I drink coffee from sunup to sundown. If im not drinking coffee I drink lots of filtered water or green tea. I know coffee isnt good to drink 24/7 but drink it black and mix it very weak.
Ive been using cheap hills bros coffee for years and the ol lady brought home some maxwell house a couple weeks ago. Ive had a severe migrane and sense of unwellness ever since using it. I NEVER get headaches so I thought 2 things. The coffee is bad or my welding helmet (auto darkening) at work is going bad.
I quit drinking the maxheadache house coffee yesterday and the headaches gone away.
I dont know what causes it but will NEVER buy this brand again and after finding this thread I know it was the coffee.

I have drank MHC for years, however for the last couple of years, no matter how I make, it it terrible, I mean awful and bad. I am going to try a few more different brands to see if that helps. If not any better I plan to give up coffee altogether. Wished Maxwell House would just own up to whatever they have done to their coffee.

I switched from Folgers to M/H because on a vacation Folgers wasn't available.I realized that my chronic migraine and the burning feeling under my skin had gone by day 3. This was in 2016. However M/H brought back the nausea and tummy problems and the burning. Later in 2016 I switched to an organic brand and in a few eeks most of my fibromyalgia symptoms along with my chronic migranes are gone! I still get the headaches but not for days at a time like with Folgers. It was the brand of coffee period. I really think it could be chemicals getting into the plant or beans. My symptoms started in 2005-ish. I wish I could have figured this out earlier, would have saved me from a lot of miserable days, lost work and doctor bills.

I quit drinking Maxwell House. The headaches stopped.

There is definitely something wrong with this coffee, there are to many people experiencing awful feelings from it and even more so this is all recent. For me, it gave me anxiety, made me feel like something was wrong when there wasn't, I couldnt sit still, or feel calm which is weird cuz my morning cup usually calms me and gets me looking forward to starting the day. I even said to myself is there meth in this? Never done meth but I swear the feelings I got could possibly be similar. After all this I jumped online to see if people were talking about it, low and behold I end up here. Don't bother contacting the company just boycott the brand and tell people not to drink it.

I switched over to Maxwell House coffee two days ago- I've had headaches ever since- and I generally do not have headaches. I will not have any M.H tomorrow and see what the result is

I have been so sick since switching my coffee to Maxwell House 4 days ago. Awful stomach aches, nausea, awful acid reflux. I wil never buy this brand again. Ever.

I have been drinking the Cafe Francais for over 20 years, 2 cups each morning. I keep about 6 cans in the cupboard for fear of running out! The last few cans I have purchased have a very different taste. They are not all from the same batch either. The coffee leaves kind of an oily, bitter aftertaste. I wonder what has been done to the recipe? Anyone else notice this?

In response to the Feb 15, 2017 comment about the coffee having a metallic taste, I have also been drinking it for over 30 years. I can't say that I taste anything out of the ordinary. Seems fine to me.

I have been a customer of Maxwell House coffee for several years. I have always received a good product.However, the coffee I have been buying has been tasting like colored water. I tried using more coffee when I brew a pot. But the result is still the same. Even the smell is different. I had stopped using Foldgers for the same reason. I am now in search of a better tasting coffee. Thought you would like to know.

This used to be nice coffee before, little bit strong but good.Now it has some weird flavor, better yet no coffee flavor, something acidy and smelly.Wonder if company uses GMOs in its preparation?They give it pretty cheap now, cause people are figuring it out there's something bad to it.Won't buy it again.

I have been drinking Maxwell House coffee for over 20 years. Lately the coffee has had a bad Banana like flavor. Very bitter also. My Wife agrees with me. What is up with M H? (cafe vienna). I will stop buying this if it continues.

I have purchased and enjoyed Maxwell House International Coffee, Cafe' Vienna for over 30 years. I love having my cup each morning. This month I purchased eight cans of this. When I opened the first, the smell was metallic. When I drank the Cafe' Vienna, the taste was metallic and bubble gummy. It is very different and horrible! Does anyone know if Kraft, Maxwell House has recently changed the recipe? The use by date on the bottom of these containers is October 2017 and November 2017. I am going to return these and try to find some older cans of Cafe' Vienna at stores who may not sell product as quickly. I did write to Maxwell House and have not heard back. Thank you!!

Unwrap the number 10 can and you will find it is no longer the trusty metal can. It is a cardboard tube with a metal bottom. No wonder the coffee tastes bad. It's been ground and put into a non-tight can to spoil.

Folgers coffee consistently makes me run to the toilet within minutes of consumption. Some brands of coffee affect me this way, but most brands don't, which doesn't make sense if this were an allergy. Folgers brand is so effective at making me experience digestive distress that when someone offers me coffee at their home, I immediately ask what brand it is and explain that Folgers makes me sick. Sometimes another person will chime in and say that they don't do well on certain brands of coffee either, so I'm not really sure what is causing the discrepancy of individual coffee tolerance vs. coffee brands - because, although this site seems to put Maxwell House above Folgers in terms of offensive symptoms post-consumption, MH is actually on my safe list for coffee. I think this may run deeper than processing and food safety and be more about the source and coffee bean breed. I have tried to find out from various sources what Folgers' coffee breed is (so I could try other brands that use the same one and see once and for all whether it's breed or brand), but even on their website, Wikipedia pages, and coffee fanatic sites, I could find nothing telling of their coffee breed. It seems they have multiple sources and still I cannot tell which breed it is. If you go into Starbucks or buy gourmet coffees at the store, the companies proudly say where the coffee is sourced and what breed it is.

I was trying to be friendly and chalk it up to allergies, but Folgers is not looking good to me right now.

I have been drinking Maxwell House for years and was told by the doctor that I have IBS because I had severe diarrhea for at least 3 years. Last month I bought some Hills coffee on sale, and the diarrhea stopped, but I still didn't realise what was going on until I started a new can of Maxwell House last week, and now feel sick as a dog again. I didn't really like the Hills but will get used to it if it means I don't have the cramps, diarrhea, headaches etc. that I now feel are being caused by Maxwell House ground Original Blend coffee!!!

MH ground coffee used to be my favorite brand, it was cheap and tasted soooooo good, all of the roasts. In recent years it's gone downhill, but now, OMG, I just opened a fresh can of the hazelnut coffee that I had bought on sale. I had never tried their hazelnut flavor specifically before. Still, the stuff is alarmingly horrible! I've never had coffee--or-anything-- so noxious tasting. It has a weird nauseating chemical smell and taste. I literally wondered if the can I got was somehow contaminated with some-whatever-thing gross and/or poisonous and that's why I started googling to find if this is actually the normal maxwell house flavor. I am so confused. MH used to be a quality brand. I don't know how their present stuff is making it on the market, especially their hazelnut ground. Vomit.

I used Maxwell House Lite for years and really enjoyed it. After the new "HalfCaff" was introduced I developed a serious rash. For the next month I eliminated everything that could possibly have been the culprit except the coffee. I never imagined that could have been the cause, yet within two days of not drinking the Half Caff, the rash was gone. I'm wondering what they may have changed? Switched to Folgers Colombian - good flavor and no rash!

After posting my comments regarding my experiences w/ Flavored Coffee from T.J.Maxx, I read deeper into the posted comments and am taken back by the numbers of people affected with such similar experiences. Wow! I am shocked there hasn't been a major recall/investigation/ or testing of contents by the FDA with results posted. To me, this is a major red flag issue. My coffee wasn't the Maxwell House or Folger's brand, but contained Arabica beans and who knows what else. I literally felt poisoned!...my husband and I rationalized for days that my symptoms must be the result of a possible new menopause episode I was transitioning into. There are so many other symptoms of past, I am now putting together with this whole coffee thing back when I was brewing the Starbuck's, Peet's etc. Subtle, but enough to make me think it was all connected to coffee!! So glad to have found all of this information.

Online search led me to this site. Maxwell House coffee has been horrible. We didn't know what it was. Bought a new pot, kept adjusting water and coffee amounts. Every morning, no matter what, would wake up and go to kitchen to get a cup. Could tell by the smell it wasn't going to be good. No matter how strong you brew it, it has a certain taste and smell. Half the jug is gone, but I am going to take back to the store anyway. Also will try to call company. Don't know what other brand to buy though. Any suggestions?

I purchased a beautiful bag of Life Plus Gourmet "Café Mexicano" Cinnamon ground coffee from Home Goods. When brewed, the faintly colored tea-like water should've been a red flag, but I brewed and drank the coffee for a week, until I began experiencing discomfort and malaise. Symptoms ranged from all over body chills to a sudden unexplained spike in hot flashes to headaches and experiencing an allergic reaction in and around my eyes. When examined further, the coffee does not even resemble coffee at all, and could be, for all I know, ground nut shells/hulls or even wood shavings bathed in artificial cinnamon who knows what! And what is concerning is my symptoms disappeared when I stopped drinking the coffee!! Buyer/Consumer....beware of what you consume, even if it does have a pretty label.

I recently changed the brand of my coffee;I consume about 2 cups every morning before work to get some energy,but,since I changed the brands,I noticed that I feel unusually sleepy,sluggish and tired,to the point that I feel a need to take a nap immediately.I realized that it the new brand of coffee that I am using,that is causing these unusual symptoms.Coffee bean has an outer core and a center,manufactures mostly use the outer part of the coffee bean,that contains caffeine,whereas the center contains theobromine,which has sedative properties if consumed in sufficient amounts.It is much cheaper for the manufacturer to use the center part of the coffee bean and to market outer layer as more expensive ground coffee.This explains why some cheap coffee brands makes you feel drowsy 15 mins after consumption,once the small amount of caffeine wears off and theobromine kicks in.Buy high quality coffee and it will solve your problem with sleepinees after coffee consumption!

Does anyone know if Maxwell house uses Soybean (vegetable ) oil, corn oil or Canola (rapeseed oil ) in ther process of roastjng beans?

I forgot to mention in my previous post that along with the SEVERE stomach cramps and nausea that I had the worst migraine of my life for three days. I wish I knew what ingredient is causing us to get so sick. I'm getting worried! I've been down with norovirus before and didn't feel THIS bad!

Like everyone else I was on here just looking to do some research to see why I have been feeling so ill after drinking my recently purchased jar of instant Maxwell House Coffee. I'm a huge coffee drinker have been for years and years not even the cheapest brand imaginable has made me sick like this. I kept thinking it must be something else truly couldn't be the coffee. After ruling out everything else it IS the coffee. I purchased at the same store I always do. The seal was not broken. There was no coffee smell at all it just smelled Bland and weird. That night I had the worst stomach cramps of my life couldn't even sleep it was like the most sour stomach you could imagine with indigestion and growling stomach. I thought I had a stomach flu. For three straight days I was in complete misery. I didn't drink it again until today I already have the pain starting in my stomach it. Definitely not my imagination. I don't know what they have done to this coffee but it must be something horrible. I only tried it again for research purposes now it's going in the garbage after I contact the company. Buyer beware!!! (it is not expired either)

I have been drinking Folgers coffee for many years. Recently I have been feeling sick after drinking one cup. I feel fine before drinking it. Today I realized for sure it was the coffee. I am a senior citizen. I will not drink anymore.

It tears my stomach up. After eating anything with 15 mintues it goes straight through me. My stomach has been tore up for about 2 1/2 years now. Whom is gonna start the class action up.

Robusta beans are pure garbage. They have made the coffee better by switching to Arabica. Robusta = harsh and bitter and have too much caffeine. Robusta really only works for espresso as well. (This helps get that nice head/foam on the top.

Well, I have a question,I opened my coffee and noticed it has very but very thin and small kind of hairs any body noticed that?

I was just about to try Maxwell House! I've been having problems in the last 6 months or so, with Starbucks and organic beans (Huckleberry's and Javatopia (Fred Meyer)) suddenly tasting too bitter to drink. They smell different to me too. I grind both brands of organic beans there in the store. I switched from one to the other due to the bitterness and the other tasted great at first, then the next bag was bitter. I cleaned my coffee pot several times. Even my cold brew (glass container) tastes different/bad.

I've been researching this online, and besides the usual reasons like grind and coffee machine, some sites say the problem is added Robusta (cheaper and more bitter) while others say the problem is too much Arabica. So who knows. But I'm about to throw out $40-50 worth of coffee beans and give up.

Lately I have just been using instant Mount Hagen organic coffee and so far it's been consistently good tasting.

I have noticed over the last couple weeks of drinking maxwell house coffee half half that I have headaches, throbbing head, fatigue, migraines, confusion and depression. I'm wondering every day when I'm feeling like this and then realized it's about an hour after I've had my breakfast coffee and breakfast bar. I'm so glad this thread has been started. It has opened my eyes and I think I need to switch brands

The can of Maxwell House in the blue can taste horrible, what happened, I have been drinking coffee all my life and love Maxwell House, not anymore.

Someone gave me Maxwell House and I drank it for a few days. I had very bad headaches and I felt nauseated all day. I didn't think it was the coffee but I decided to skip it for one day and sure enough I felt completely fine when I didn't drink it. Maxwell House... in the garbage!

we, too, can no longer drink Maxwell House coffee in either the Wake Up, Breakfast Blend, or our ..all-time favorite Original Roast. I have no way of know ing what they have done to their blending or roasting? I'm inclined to say that the John Kerry effect (married to Teresa Heinz) is the reason for the bad taste in my mouth but they've been married for several years and the coffee hs gone bad within the past 6-8 months. I am further inclined to suggest that the corporate "bean counters" are implicated in making some bad decisions. I am now seeking a replacement brand of coffee. Having lived thru the shortages of coffee during WWII, I compare the current Maxwell House coffee to the ersatz blends of those days, but worse!

when we used to buy maxwell house ground coffee about a year ago it said on the can 100% arabic coffee and it was one of the best coffees you could get for the price.now on the can it says 100% pure coffee.taste terrible.we do not buy this coffee any more.

For some time (year & a half?), I had laid off coffee, due to ulcerative colitis. Drank only tea (used to do either, as it suited me). Several weeks ago, I started up w/ coffee again, one cup mid-morning only on the weekends (after a full breakfast). I do use lots of honey and milk in it, by the way. Few days ago, I finally finished up the long-ago-opened (plastic) jar of M.H. instant that had sat in my cupboard for some time. Had no problems with coffee from that old jar. It was great to drink coffee again!
Really anticipated opening the new one - broke the seal and took a big whiff, but... where was that rich aroma from opening a new jar of coffee?? Couldn't really smell ANYthing - that was a real disappointment. It was the same regular coffee version as the one I'd finally just finished. I checked the date - good till Oct. 2017.
We have a 10-day December shutdown where I work, so I've had quite a few days in a row now where I've had mid-morning coffee - honey from the same jar, same milk, always after a full breakfast of some kind or another. Since I started the new jar, every time, I've gotten indigestion afterward - just feel like crap. Today's was the last straw!
Did a search, found this site. After reading several of the posts below, I'm gonna buy a jar of organic. Gonna throw out the jar I've got now. There is most definitely something that's very WRONG with a lot of the coffee now - I suspect nasty chemicals that are so often used in agriculture these days.

Geez.... DON'T QUIT drinking COFFEE---you just need to BUY BETTER COFFEE. Seek out a local roaster, they're in lots of cities & towns. Buy fresh roasted beans & let the roaster grind for you depending on how you brew, unless you want to grind yourself what you'll drink just prior to brewing. OR you can buy some Starbucks PIKE PLACE Roast 71 at your grocery, Walmart, etc already ground---my daughters family drinks that & it's not bad if no local roaster's available. I'm not a Starbucks fan but when visiting our daughter it's what they drink & it's a G-Zillion times better than any of the other Smuckers (Folgers) or Kraft brands (Maxwell House, McCafe included).

Sheesh!I thought it was just me but after reading many of these comments I realized that it is the brand of coffee I drink. Stomach upsets every time I drink it even after switching to Folgers smooth blend. I guess it is time for me to quit drinking coffee. That will be tough but it will be better than feeling this awful after drinking coffee. It does make me wonder what they are putting in their coffee.

I too, found the taste of Maxwell House coffee to be very bitter. I have used it all my life. I could making several pots over and over again thinking it was the coffee pot.I am going to look for another brand.

I thought I got a hold of a bad box. So I bought another box. The same thing happened. Grounds in coffee are really bad. I strained my cup twice and still had a few by then your coffee is cold. I will not buy the k cups again.

Call Kraft-1-800-7057238 tell them about your horrible experience with this awful MAXWELL COFFEE, maybe then they'll take it serious because they sure don't seem to believe it can be their coffee making us all very sick. Quit drinking it & haven't been sick since?????

I was getting horrible heartburn every time I drank Maxwell house.
I stopped drinking it and the heartburn was gone.

I tried it again and it was back so bad.

This brand should be banned from selling it to the public.

I buy ONLY fresh roasts from a local roaster. Not hard to find these days. Grind what I'll be drinking just prior to brewing. Most small roasters will have good sourced beans, no crappy stuff. They will grind a pound for you and fresh coffee is always in a vented bag for great storage til gone.

I'm glad to see I am not the only one that has an issue with maxwell house. I can't finish a cup of it before I feel weird. I get the worst heartburn. And the smell is not even appealing.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning feeling the best I have felt in a while. The ONLY thing I put into my system was a cup & 1/2 of Maxwell original blend coffee. I noticed my throat seemed tighter. Suddenly my neck, sides of my face and chest started itching, a rash with large bumps followed. I took one benedryl to see if I were having an allergic reaction. Symptoms improved some. Had to take a second one to open my airways back up more. I feel better minus headache, stomach cramps. Thank you to my fellow Mountaineer for this site! Something has changed with MH for sure! I gagged last few times I tried to drink it previously. Thought it was just me. Even had my wbc tested to see if it were elevated. No. So...thanks for the gross disregard for our health, MH! Something needs to be done, ASAP! Writing them now. Thank God I had allergy medicine or I might not even be alive to write them. HOW WILL YOU MAKE $ IF YOU KILL YOUR CONSUMERS? Just in case anyone from MH or Kraft is reading.

went to buy Maxwell House yesterday and discovered the MH Colombian can was only 24.5 oz. All the others were still 28 or 29 oz.
The cans were all priced at 9.99. I like the Colombian and think it is a good product, but it is now priced like premium bagged coffee. So I have many other options now and probably will not be buying Maxwell House Colombian anymore.

I've drank Maxwell House Coffee for years. Since 1965, and I love the coffee. But they started putting it in plastic containers, which was really good and it had a handle on the can that you could grasp easily. They changed the design for some reason and now it has a wide grip and you can no longer wrap your hand around the handle. I, like most senior citizens have arthritis and we can no longer hold the coffee can easily and I personally have dropped and spilled all my coffee in the floor. This is very frustrating. I certainly would like to see the handle put back on the coffee can like it was. When something is not broke,...don't fix it. Think about all the seniors in the world for a change. We helped make your company what it is. Thanks.

Our coffee smells like skunk when being made. For along time it hasn't smelled or tasted like coffee. It is bitter & smells awful. We haven't been feeling good for along time, finally we now know it is the MH. coffee. We feel good when we get up but start feeling sick shortly after drinking our first cup. I kept saying I think it's the coffee & now after reading all the complaints I'm 100% sure. No more pain & flu like feeling. Thank you for opening our eyes.

Drinking maxwell rich dark roast it taste like all have described get the same symptoms etc...interestingly enough the can doesnt state what kind of beans are actually in it how ever it does have a best before date on the bottom.

These symptoms can be had from different types as well. Ive had these from folders too.

I find it hilarious that kraft states it will be changing its master blend to 100% arabica soon but it has nothing to do with price increases of cheaper beans...lol "liars".

Most people buy the cheapest coffee they can get their hands on. So it makes sense to blend at different rates according to the market to stay competative.

Ive done allot of research on beans and they are very suseptable to contamination even in the green state so it makes sense how the same type can taste different even if the blend is the same.

Like mixing rotton beans is a money saver....im drinking it right now im getting a slight medicinal taste and bitterness. Definitely not good till the last drop. Though its not too far off the taste of other pre grind ive tried but definitely one of the more discusting ones for sure.

I bought a container of Maxwell House, which was on sale, rather than my usual coffee. For the past two weeks, I've suffered with bloating and gas pains, since drinking MH. I've narrowed it down to this coffee, after noticing it wasn't food, and since I don't drink coffee in the evening the pains subsided. Like others, same pain started soon after a couple cups.

I bought the Maxwell House Lite and within a few days developed a rash on my face. I did not think to connect it to the coffee. Within a week I was at the doctors and put on steroids to reduce the facial swelling and rash. The only new product I purchased and used was the Maxwell House lite. I stopped using it. I drink only one cup of coffee per day. I am sharing this because this was an intense allergic reaction to a very small amount of this product. I do not know if it is the chemical spray or unspecified blending of a different type of beans.

For the last three days I've been having shortness of breath, like I can't take a deep breath all the way in. Along with it a feeling of dizziness and urge to lie down. A sort of nauseous feeling too. I tried thinking about any changes in my diet or whatever and realized BAM I just picked up some maxwell house at my local CVS. It was like $2 and change for a regular sized can and I thought shoot that's a good deal. Realized it could be that and switched to some organic publix brand today and feel great. What the heck maxwell house? Are there chemicals that start to turn bad if they sit too long? Is that why CVS was dumping it cheap?

When I was a kid I remembered waking up to a coffee smell, kind of like Starbucks. Mom used pre-ground Foldgers. It's just not the same anymore. Coffee these days has a stale smell. This goes for Maxwell House too. I've also changed from drip to pour over, still the same. I can only think that something is different about the coffee.

I've read the comments below and I was wondering if anyone gave consideration to the caffeine in coffee. Excessive caffeine consumption can cause many of the symptoms people are describing.

My son has been getting more HEADACHES now I am wondering if it is from the coffee after reading the other people's remarks. I am going to stop making coffee and see if his HA go away. It's a shame that companies are so cheap to save a dollar that they put people's health at risk! Shame on them!

My wife and I rarely buy coffee such as M.H but we were out of coffee and desprate so we bought some. It wasn't until this morning that I put two and two together. I have been having horrific stomach pains/ issues the past couple weeks along with more headaches than usual. My husband purchased a can of Yuban from Costco. He normally drinks higher end organic coffee that I buy for him. I buy the bag of whole beans and grind them fresh. However, he purchased a container of pre-ground Yuban coffee, and it made him sick. Everyone in my family loves the smell of coffee, even if we don't all drink it, but the smell of the Yuban was offensive. Instead of a good coffee smell in the house, it filled my house with the unclean smell of vomit. My husband suffered from nausea, stomach pain and cramps, loss of appetite, headaches, and felt sluggish. He lost 20 pounds in a month.

Coffee that is pre-ground before being packaged for sale are sprayed with a host of chemical preservatives. Otherwise they'd go bad and/or rancid very rapidly. There's also a lot of pesticides used on these coffees as well. I've been buying only whole bean coffee for some time now if for no other reason but to have "fresh" ground coffee right at the time of brewing. However, recently I did some research into the coffee industry and due to the extremely high demand for it, many crops are heavily sprayed with pesticides to lessen the loss from insects, etc. I've since switched to buying only organic beans, which admittedly cost a little bit more but they taste great and don't make me sick to my stomach. Coffee itself can have a mild laxative effect on some people but who needs that "turbo-charged" by chemical additives?!

I've drank Folgers and have loved it for years..usually I drink it black but for over 6 months it needs creamer at times to make it flavorable..I (like many others) have been suffering severe migraines- any headache for me is abnormal..so this month I bought this different
brand of Folgers-Simply Smooth; thinking it would taste better with less side effects..Nope- loose stools all day every day and naseausness and severe migraines..The Only thing I do the same everyday is drink that coffee(black)..After reading this I Know it's the coffee..Folgers will be hearing from me- They need to hear it from the consumer so they can change things..I haven't given up on the company; however, I will be trying something else tomorrow..

I switched from McCafe coffee to Maxwell House.. for about 2 weeks now I've been feeling so nauseated and my stomach feels crampy in the mornings after I drink it and I often get a headache and body aches like the flu!!. I told my husband I felt like it was the coffee because it only happens after I drink it.. thinking that has to be absurd for coffee to do me that way, I googled the problem and found this website to see that many more people are experiencing the same problem I am!! I will definitely be switching my coffee back to Starbucks or McCafe!!

I have been drinking coffee for many decades, I got tired of Folgers fowl taste and switched to M.H., I agree with the many complaints of illness caused by drinking Maxwell House coffee. I get severe fatigue and a burning sensation in my throat and upper chest, no doubt in my mind whatsoever Maxwell House coffee is responsible.

I grew up on Instant MH, and about 7 years ago it was never fresh anymore. I kept having to bring it back, I thought maybe because it was a plastic jar now, so I switched to Nescafe, and then the same was happening to that coffee. My problem is also that I do not like other flavors in my coffee because I love coffee flavor, not vanilla or hazelnut or anything but coffee.So I have been upset with this for years, drove my family and friends crazy trying to find a good one. But nothing is good anymore. Except Organic, what ever these companies have done to make a buck has ruined coffee. Also they are making people sick with these additives, funny I noticed sugar isn't the same anymore either. Starbucks is loaded with God knows what and people are addicted. But I do miss my MH instant it always reminded me of my childhood,and my Dad 😔

I have been a coffee drinker for about 35 years. It has not been till resent years that I have been effected by the different coffee's. I have tested name brands like Folgers, Maxwell House, Yuban, Hills Brothers, Don Francisco, Cafe'Bustello and many other store brands. The side effects I have experienced range from heart palpitations, shortness of breath, full body aches, sever migraines, internal body aches, diarrhea, nausea and blurred vision! This last time was from Yuban which I had several of the symptoms all together and barely getting past it now!I think I am just going to stop drinking coffee all together after this because I thought I was going to die! P.S. My family and friends thought it was just My imagination but now I see it has effected many other people.

I am 56 yrs old my great grandmother, grandmother, Mother all drank Maxwell House. I usually drink Folgers. I bought Maxwell House the other day 9/2016.. What on earth is going on down there. The coffee in the Maxwell House container was so bad I can't begin to express. The smell was gimped up the taste was a joke and I guess Kraft is looking for a tax right off. Because if they dont get real about the quality of their coffee they will surely be out of business. Their coffee tastes like Chicory at best. YUCK!!!!

I have been on this since my younger years, I'm 57 and no coffee issues for me, no other brand is good til last drop! I am hooked, I am ole skool and will not buy anything else unless, my habit gets the best of me. hot, black original MH is good til last drop. I smell good coffee when I open the plastic cans, I make sure my machine is clean, and sanitized, with vinegar water by filling it and brewing it. I remove and cleanse the filter basket as soon as my coffee is ready.

For the past month I was getting very dizzy, fatigued and was having a very high heart rate after drinking my 1 or two cups of MH every morning. Went to the ER twice cuz I thought I was sick with something. I eventually noticed this only came on while drinking the coffee. Switched brands a few days ago and the symptoms immediately stopped. I phoned Kraft and gave them a detailed report. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

I drank Maxwell House -light for years. I liked it and had no problem with it I got extremely sick last year after I opened up a new canister. I thought I had the flu . I suspected it was related to the coffee and stopped drinking it and switches brands. A couple weeks ago I bought it again thinking maybe I was imagining things. I drank it ion the morning and about an hour later I had a headache , stomach ache and threw up. It's the coffee and it needs to be looked into. This is not good

I switch back and forth between different coffee brands depending on whatever is on sale and stay away from strong coffee as it makes me "jittery". Recently, I've been using Maxwell House Original roast medium. I've never had a problem with Maxwell House before, but lately I've been experiencing a severe adrenaline rush after drinking it.... jitters, heart palpitations and lightheadedness. It feels as if my blood sugar suddenly dropped way down!! I always have only one cup a day with my lunch. After reading these posts I am returning the three unopened cans I currently have and will switch to a Martinson brand I have in the pantry. If I don't have the same reaction, I'll know for sure that it's the Maxwell House!!

Bad headaches from me and my wife and a feeling of nausea. I am considering calling my local news station to have them dig deeper into the matter. Has there been any report from either coffee maker regarding the complaints?

I have been drinking Maxwell House, specifically Master Blend for over 30 years. I'm 53 and admit that I was totally addicted. I had surgery in November 2014. When I came home, during recovery I bought another large container of Master Blend. It tasted terrible and real bitter. I thought it was my coffee maker, so I bought a new one. Same awful taste. I wrote to Maxwell House and they sent me a coupon for a free container, which also was terrible. I thought maybe it was a bad batch from the store I usually shop at, so I went to a different store. Same terrible flavor. I tried a few other brands and nothing tasted like my beloved Master Blend once did. After overcoming my addiction and waiting nearly 2 years, I decided that I'd try it again. New container, same lousy taste. I would like to know if anyone here has found anything comparable to the way Master Blend used to taste? I would be willing to pay a higher price, just to get the old recipe reinstated.

I don't drink much coffee but do like the occassional cappuccino. I usually have Nescafe cappuccino but recently tried Maxwell House. At first I thought my stomach grumblings were due to a stomach bug but the stomach cramps occurred within minutes of taking a few sips of every Maxwell House cappuccino I drank. I also noted that when hot/boiling water is added to the sachet it sizzles. This does not happen with the Nescafe brand. I decided to Google if there had been a recall, but nothing. As I don't appear to be the only one, perhaps Maxwell House should check this out before anyone becomes seriously ill.

After years of drinking coffee I quit about a month ago because I started getting ill after drinking it. Problem seems to be the switch to folgers. Never had a problem with other brands but recently a switch to folgers gave me some horrible nausea after drinking it. Stumbled across this site and found I wasn't the only person. Might switch back to another off brand or get some beans and just grind them. Thanks for the info.

Been drinking Nabob for about 20 years. Why don't you people from MH try that? Nabob does belong to MH or Kraft now, but I find that their coffee maintains taste, even after Kraft bought them out in 1994!

Maxwell House and Folgers smell bad, taste bad. What's with the chemical overtures anyway? Using filtered water doesn't make a difference. I used to love the smell of fresh coffee but these brands are doing something different, as if it's made cheaply with poisons. Yuck!

I usually buy Maxwell house or Folgers. This last large can of Maxwell house, when I opened it, smelt soured and when I made the coffee, tastes sour. I guess coffee drinkers call it bitter. I have had bitter coffee, but this does not taste like that. It even left a smell in the kitchen while brewing of a sour aroma. It's unfortunate, but I will not be buying Maxwell house anymore. I used to enjoy the brand, but the smell and the taste is very sickening.

I use instant coffee to make my own iced coffees. I had someone go to the store for me and they came home with maxwell house brand. The first taste I thought was off but I needed coffee. That night I felt very nauseated and dizzy. Then I proceeded to get migraines with the Nassau every day I drank the coffee. I honestly didn't think it was the coffee, I thought maybe I ate something bad or I was not drinking enough water, basically I thought it was something I was doing. After almost a week, I decided to google "can you get sick from switching coffee brands?". I see an article about Maxwell house coffees making people sick and I knew for a fact it was the coffee. The symptoms people wrote about were the same I was experiencing. I immediately went out and bought my usual brand which is actually Walmart brand and magically everything began to get better and the next day I was back to normal. Eventually leading me to write about my own experience. Just...buyer be ware.

I just bought a can of Max.House Coffee...opened the car and it did not smell like coffee. I remember yrs. ago when you opened up a can of coffee, it would go pfffff and out came the most delicious coffee odor. That no longer happens and the odor is not good. Same problem with Folgers. I use an electric,drip coffee maker.

I purchased two plastic Medium Grind Maxwell House Coffee 42.5 oz. containers. Opened the first one this morning and immediately my husband and I knew something was very wrong with the taste.It tasted nothing like coffee. It was extremely bitter & very bad-tasting. Hope we both don't get sick from it.

I am taking both containers back to B J's Wholesale Club, to get my money back.

Consumer Reports ought to get involved and analyze what is in this "coffee" to warn others not to buy it.

I have drank Maxwell instant coffee regular and mild roast most of my life when now for about the last year when i drink it it first gives me a headache and makes me feel queasy until i make myself sick or wait to become violently ill. I thought it was just me until today when i searched for others feeling the same.
I noticed that the taste isn't quite right and tasted like it was mixed with dirt. the after taste (after vomiting is chemical)? the headache lasts quite a while. I am writing while i am purging the remains of the coffee from my system.

i am going to try and contact the company for some answers. or maybe twitter to get some attention to this issue.

Parent companies for MH (Kraft) & Folgers (Smuckers) know, & have known, what's in those cans of so called 'coffee'--AND they don't care. FACT: they knew the Keurig type makers were going to hit the market long before the public was aware. Plus possibly coffee prices were going to explode (maybe all due to marketing), something else their buyers know prior. My opinion: I think those companies started 'diluting' their grounds suttley over time so consumers wouldn't be able to taste the difference---over 3-5 yrs & one can become used to what something taste like. Taste is a personal thing, differs greatly too---to some it's not good while others say it's horrible WHICH IT IS! Some have suffered headaches, intestinal distress, etc while others just can't stand the taste. With the Keurig type brewers you get more 'coffee drinks' vs true coffee consumed black or cream &/or sugar. I know lots of people who've gone back to auto drip brewing, tossing their 'fast food' Keurigs. Anyway, Keurig hasn't made coffee bad. Mass marketed grocery store coffee has been subjected to such 'super marketing' therefore the outcome is evident. IF YOU WANT GOOD COFFEE find a local roaster in your area or try a few of the select brands of vented bagged in your grocery vs any canned grounds. Stay away from MH, Folgers, etc.

I opened the lid on the big plastic maxwell house container and once again got a pungent, chemical smell. Finally decided to check out the internet for comments and Wow! At least I know now it's not our taste buds, or our water, or the coffee maker. Maxwell house was my preferred coffee for the last 30 years. We have tried others recently and then gone back to MH only to realize it smells and tastes like poison, and like many of the posts here, find ourselves wondering about all of our recent headaches and stomach aches. We need to band together and make them reveal what exactly is in their coffee. I would love to have this can lab tested. They should be held accountable! Any suggestions?

I first found this site in late 2010 after having many of the same issues of not feeling well and feeling quite bad at times after drinking Maxwell House. So it seems 6 years have gone by and nothing has really changed from reading the post by others, Seems it would have been looked into by now or tested? Back in 2010 and 2011 figured it might have been from chemical sprays or even the chemicals from wood pallets if any were in use at the time. I started buy some of the Barissimo bagged coffees from Aldis a few years ago and those seem ok for around $4.00 I quit drinking Folgers as well, seemed to not feel well at times but may have just been me.

First... look for a local small batch roaster in your area. They can even grind a pound of fresh roast for you. If you must buy coffee in the grocery store, check out some of the vented bag coffees. I'm not a Starbucks fan but their PIke isn't bad, the House Blend is ok. Just stay away from all Maxwell House, Flogers & generic store brand coffee. That being said, if you live in Florida & go to Publix, I must say they're Publix GreenWise Organic Med roast House Blend is the best of any pre-ground store or major brands I've tasted--I enjoy that when visiting our daughter down there.

For months now, I have noticed that I can't stand the taste of this coffee anymore, I have tried bottled water, I tried making it fresh in the morning, nothing helped the taste. Now I am literally feeling sick to my stomach all the time, not to mention the excruciating headaches! I thought it was just me at first, because I drink a pot of coffee every day. But after researching and finding that a lot of people have been feeling the same effects, I was relieved to know I wasn't going crazy! I need to find another brand, I will no longer be purchasing these two major brands. Can anyone suggest a coffee with a good flavor? I am done being sick all the time.

I have two cups of MH sachet's coffee and I get blurred vision , I do have morphine patches on and take other strong medicines , maybe this can cause it. It has happened twice now and I have only drank two cups twice.

I had been drinking Maxwell House Original for a year or and suddenly I developed rashes on both sides of my face near the corners of the eyes, sides of the nose, top and bottom corners of my mouth. The rash would start out like a dry patch, then progress to small itchy blisters. The patches were very red and at the worst would drive me crazy being itchy. I systematically eliminated products I was using on my face and the rash continued. Finally, the rash went away during a month when I was drinking another brand of coffee exclusively. I went back to drinking Maxwell House and boom! within a few days, the rash appeared. I retested this again eliminating Maxwell House and staring it up again. I got the rash again. Maxwell House Original is definitely causing this rash.

Used it for years. It tasted great. Now it smells and tastes acidic and bitter and gives me an acid stomach. Kraft has cheapened it somehow and I have had to throw the can out that I recently purchased. Has happened twice, No more money of mine being spent on Maxwell House coffee.

I drank Maxwell House Lite Half Caffeine ground coffee for at least the past seven years and loved it. Got a container several months ago and it was awful,bitter,acidic. I wrote to Maxwell House asking what had changed? No reply. Decided maybe I just got a one-time "bad batch". Did not biuy again until this past week I decided to try it again. It does not list the bean variety I Noticed. Unfortunately this large container is as bad as the last one. Bitter,acidy...I cannot drink it. Another wasted 8.99. No sense writing to them.No more Maxwell House for me.

I see that these are all old posts, but just on a whim I typed in "Maxwell House coffee making me sick" on the Internet....I couldn't believe all that popped up! For weeks, I've been feeling so sick, nauseous, dizzy, headaches... I went through the meds I'm taking, the creams I use...emailed my doctor.

Then it just dawned on me this morning, the only thing I switched new is my coffee...first time trying Maxwell House. I really didn't think I would find anything when I Googled it. Wow! Going to the store to buy something else!!!

It makes me sick to my stomach. When dumped into the garbage and also after it cools down it stinks like poop. Most of the time I had to dump it because I could not stand the strong odor of poop and the bitter taste that tastes nothing like coffee. It lacks the natural fruity aroma that is natural to true coffee. I would love for someone to run atest of maxwell and folgers to find out if there is poop in it mixed with strong chemicals. And it is all the same for Dunkin doughnuts and starbucks "coffee" and all the other brands that only list 100% arabica grains as the only ingredients contained in their bags or cans.

I started drinking Maxwell house morning burst so that I could have more energy for work. Well, I have been having really bad migraines, and when I get to work all the sudden I start getting the jitters, feeling like I'm going to fall , unsteady . I thought I was having an anxiety attack or something. Then I cant sit still ! I'm 48 years old, been drinking coffee for years, I usually just purchase what is on sale, Maxwell House, Folgers, Chock Full of Nuts. Lately, when drinking Maxwell House, I have severe abdominal pains and extreme burping and left chest pain. I honestly don't know why this happens. I don't OD on coffee, I have the same 2 - 3 cups per day. I'm really concerned with reading everyone else's experiences, wonder what the heck in going on.

We drank Maxwell house master blend for years, & loved it!! Just in the past year it has started tasting horrible! My parents drink Folgers & they complain it doesnt taste the same either. Not sure what has changed but something sure has!! Please fix the problem!!

I am having the same issue, I have been enjoying multiple cups of coffee for 20 years and all of a sudden I get migraines, nausea etc . The coffee was Chock Full O' Nuts brand though, i wonder if they are all owned by the same parent company.?

I just opened a large plastic jug"O" maxwell house coffee. The first thing I noticed was the foil seal was as limp as a tissue. Secondly, when I checked the Aroma, it smelled like chemicals instead of fresh coffee. I had only that particular jug on hand so, I ran it through the coffee maker. It was without a doubt the worse cup of coffee I have ever had. Maxwell house will no doubt reject any comments directed towards the change of coffee bean in their brew, I am here to tell you that is BS! Something rotten is brewing over at maxwell house, LITERALLY!

For over three weeks I had been horribly nauseous. No other symptoms. I couldn't imagine what was wrong.

I started eliminating foods, one by one, with no results.

I've ALWAYS been a coffee drinker (over 50 years)so it never occurred to me that it could be my coffee.

I had bought the 30.5 oz can of Krogers Select Blend to save a little money.... I usually buy Eight O'clock. It finally dawned on me that the nausea started shortly after I started using the Kroger's brand.

I stopped having my usual 3-4 cups of coffee every morning and the nausea miraculously vanished !! Just to make sure, I ran to the grocery and purchased my usual Eight O'clock coffee. Have been using it for five days now, and NO NAUSEA.

What on earth is in that Kroger Coffee - is it POISON ??????

Every time I drink this coffee now I get sick to my stomach!! Always drank this coffee but now it smells like a chemical is in the coffee after you open it!! I've got tons but refuse to drink it!!
I called the company any and they blew me off and wanted to give coupons for more stuff! Would not tell me where coffee was manufactured!!!! That in it's self is a red flag to me!!They said they have had no further complaints! I'd love to be able to have it tested to see just what's in it!!

Everytime I drink either Folgers or Maxwell House I later get severe stomach and intestinal pains then diarrhea....for many hours on end. I finally figured out it was these 2 coffees and not whatever else I may have been eating. I am done with them.

I have suffered with sharp abdominal pains and acid reflux for about a week. I have medicated myself with over the counter products, however the pain would go away for a little while but then suddenly return. I had determine tonight it was time to visit my Doctor. In a process of elimination I started to log everything I ate and drank. In review of my log on this evening is when I discovered that I became ill after drinking coffee. I too purchased Maxwell House medium roast on sale. I started googling to see if there was anything out there about Maxwell House causes people to get sick, and I found this site. I see that I am not alone with this issue. I will never drink Maxwell House coffee again!!!

Made me very sick! Nausea headaches tiredness, hot flashes dizzy vomiting and skin peeling. Because of mold? Young beans? Who knows but I have switched to chock full o'nuts and all symptoms were gone in just a couple a days.have had 3 anerurism surgeries. Thought I was going to be under the knife again I felt crazy dizzy!

I seam to be reacting to folger's. I googled and it seems I am not alone. My lips are puffing up as if I were eating mangoes or pistachios (which I have an allergy to, the reaction is not as severe but still concerning.

Fresh ground organic coffee beans are the answer. No issues....

Maxwell house, Flogers and all cheap ground coffee make me sick to my sromach and very agitated.

I have been drinking Folgers coffee for years but the last few months of 2015 I noticed that my coffee didn't taste good anymore and everytime I drank it I would feel nauseated and my stomach would get upset.
I bought flavored creamers and tried different brewing options like brewing it on the stove and cold brewing and using a french press. I also cleaned out my coffee maker and nothing helped.So I decided to buy some coffee that was flavored from the store bulk section and then I bought a store brand off the shelf because it was cheaper. There's nothing wrong with this coffee. It tastes good and my stomach has not gotten upset since I quit using Folders. It never really dawned on me that there might be something wrong with the coffee until I read that Folgers and Maxwell House Coffee's are making people feel ill. This is when I put two and two together but that wasn't until I had already switched to a store brand coffee this year in 2016.

So at work we serve Maxwell house original. At home I drink Maxwell house instant original. Before work my morning coffee makes me extremely nauseous and gives me dizzy waves due to the nausea. At work, the coffee seems to be okay,and has a very different smell (in container) than my instant coffee does, as a matter of fact, my instant coffee has little to no smell in the container.. My milk is fine my cups are clean I just don't understand why I feel so aweful drinking the instant but feel line drinking the regular coffee.. I've drank instant my whole life.

I can not add anything new to what has been said but sadly they have done something to the coffee. I've been as sick as everyone else . Maxwell House
needs a recall and fast before something else happens.

I have drank MH for over 45 years until I got sick from the "Mold" it took almost a year before I believed in was my MH coffee, after eliminating everything else 1 by 1.. How Sad MH & Kraft.. Well known companies WE helped put on the TOP stabbed us in our gut for the sake of the almighty dollar.. NOT only will you eventually suffer from low sales with your coffee But also anything Kraft is involved with... How do the brass at MH & Kraft sleep at night, knowing what they are doing? You can't take the money with you & your kids might not want your dirt money!! Food for thought......

I am returning 3 unopened Maxwell House Colombian large size due to the awful taste and associated nausea in the morning. We drink a lot of coffee and I try to keep a good supply on hand but it won't be Maxwell House. In fact tea tasted pretty good this morning instead.

Drank two cups of this thought "what a strange taste".went to work that day and thought I was going to collapse.I had extreme nausea and couldn't keep my eyes open.I was in such a fog and nauseated felt like I had been poisoned. I had nausea and headaches for weeks and I stopped drinking Maxwell House and the symptoms disappeared. I switched to a better brand and have had no symptoms.

I used to drink Maxwell House house-blend ground coffee all the time, it was my favorite. Then it started tasting like it had chemicals or drugs in it, so I stopped drinking it for about 2 years. Then I decided to try it again because it was so cheap and sorry to say it still taste bad.

I was almost out of Melitta coffee and got a small can of Maxwell House original blend. Awful coffee! Had to throw it away, got some Maxwell House Master Blend, that was barely drinkable. This is not the Maxwell House I drank years ago, I'm going back to Melitta.

I used to be a big fan of Maxwell House French roast coffee when it was 100% Arabica. Now it is a very bitter and undrinkable coffee. I assume they no longer use Arabica beans in their coffee because it definitely tastes totally different. It seems like these days most top brands have turned to crap trying to ride on the reputations they established last century, brand recognition means nothing these days.

ALL supermarket coffee brands no longer specify ARABICA on the cans--except for CFON "new york style", they ALL now say simply, "100% coffee". take a look and tell me i'm wrong... i know in the past few years, there was an 'arabica shortage'--but it has reversed, though the coffee has not. you know what happens when GREED takes over... i moved to SC from the NYC metro area just a year ago last week, and here there are save-a-lot supermarkets. they don't have everything, but i do buy a few things there since their prices are quite low. they do not sell a whole lot of brand-name items, but many of their private label staples are not bad at all. the coffee they offer is 'mcdaniels', and the colombian is 100% arabica, and is not bad at all--MUCH better than any of the popular brands that are now robusto, ditoyou know--the '100% coffee' perpetrators--and at $6.99 for a 28-oz can, a bargain you absolutely cannot beat...

I used to drink Maxwell House all the time but switched to Kcups and drinking Dunkin Donuts. I got some Maxwell House Breakfast Blend and since the first sip my heart races and I feel like I'm overdosing on caffeine. I've been making it lighter each day and no relief. Today I tried mixing it with decaf to only use a tiny amount and still the heart racing. Seems the smallest amount is doing this to me. I'm also getting acid reflux without the heartburn. My digestion got super slow. I will have to stop drinking this coffee. It's making me miserable. Oh and it's not the instant, just the grounds.

Yes indeed, Maxwell House coffee is making me nauseous. I tried switching to Foldgers and the same feeling occurred. It is as if when I was pregnant (no chance of that now) and it really upsets my stomach. I'm going to try to stop drinking it all together which is a shame because I really like it but it's just not worth the feeling

I used to drink this and it started making me lose my voice after he second cup...Really? I had my skin peel and break out in blisters, that hurt so bad. I quit it and went to Folger's which has now started to do the same type of thing. Are you using too young of coffee beans that still have toxins in them? What is going on. I am now coffee free for 1 week. Sad what ever you are doing. I actually have the scars from the blisters. Not happy.

I just got a big can of Maxwell original roast since it was on sale. I had my regular cup yesterday morning and was nauseus for hours. Then i woke up at past 2am with a very bad heartburn. My husband too woke up at midnight saying he had acid in his throat and couldn't breathe.

My mother & I have faithfully drank Maxwell House Original for years! We both noticed a change in the taste & thought maybe the store just had a bad shipment. So we went to another store, bought a brand new can but still didn't taste right. We both began getting severe headaches, sore throat, nausea, pain & soreness in our stomach, dizziness, sweating & feeling anxious. At first we thought maybe we were getting sick, we were both having the same symptoms, maybe the flu? But after seeing a doc, flu test & other testing all came back negative. The doc couldnt figure it out! We came home paying attention to when the symptoms would rare up. After drinking couple cups of MH, the issues would start. We stopped drinking MH for a week & the symptoms stopped. We tried it a few more times & each time the same thing happened. We discontinued MH & got a big box of keurig coffee from Ollie's that we now drink. Our issues have disappeared except now we both have to be treated for stomach issues that didn't go away. Even our doctor said something wasn't right w/ the problems only happening when we drank MH. So after years of drinking MH & never had problems, then all of a sudden MH makes us very ill, something isn't right!

Want to add that I now drink chock full o'nuts coffee and I no longer get sick to my stomach or have headache like I did when I was drinking maxwell house!

I rarely drink coffee anymore. I stopped drinking Fol Foldgers be a use before even one cup was finished I would get nauseous. Today I drank half a cup,for the first time in a long time. Within hours I had a full blown migraine.

this is crazy. I just got a new canister of Maxwell House about a week ago it tasted horrible the first morning that I drink it I got a horrible headache and felt like I had the flu all day by the next morning. That was the French roast, which I normally don't get. I thought maybe I just wasn't used to that blend so I went and got the original roast which is what I normally get. I made that this morning and it still tasted bad but I didn't feel as if I just had a little bit of a headache and unsteady stomach... I just couldn't believe it when I saw this now I'm afraid to drink my coffee in the morning.

I get very nausiated and have bowel problems last few days thought had the flu.I drink both brands I switched from Folgers to Maxwell and still same sytoms.

My step dad and my step sister buy Folger coffee I've also drank it for years in the last month my stomach has been torn up after drinking two cups and hurts up to two hours after.

Have headaches everyday. Reading this I am going to try a different coffee and see if they go away. I am a 20 yr drinker of MH breakfast blend or ground roast. I hope this is not the cause. Reading this is horrible and hope its not true or they changed recipe and replace with chemicals to make us sick b/c its cheaper. I am trying to be positive. So I am off to not drinking coffee for a few days and than go back to drinking it again and see the difference. Hope there is none.

recently i have been running to the bathroom after drinking my coffee in the morning which is folgers i never thought about it until i read peoples comments but yes lately the folgers has been effecting my stomach to the point where now i would not know what to buy if both coffees are doing this to people

I cannot believe this. I have used Maxwell House for years but just within the last year my nose has been peeling and headaches and upset tummy and frequent dirrhea. And yes it got better after I quit drinking the coffee. Definitely changing brands.

I don't drink Maxwell house coffee very often, but I do drink the packaged boxed hispanish coffee and it also makes me dizzy and I feel like low sugar or down feeling after drinking the coffee, and in order to feel better right away I have to drink water afterwards . so I think it is something to do with the beans or cultivation or process of the beans ?, I just hope someone finds out and let us know and fix it

Omg I thought it was just me. I actually couldn't drink coffee for months because just the smell of it made me sick. I drank maxwell house all my life but started getting so sick to my stomach. I thought I was changing because I have reached the big 50. Something is definitely wrong with it. It doesn't even smell good when brewing, like it use to. Hopefully we can find out.

I have been using Maxwell House for many years!!! It's the only brand I would drink. Then suddenly every single time I drank it, I got immediate horrible cramps, was nauseaous & running to the bathroom. I couldn't figure out why, all of a sudden. I thought it was just me. Sometimes it made me feverish. Doesn't matter which Maxwell I used. I've had 100% Columbian, French Roast, a lot. I switched to other coffees and was fine. Bought MH French Roast the other day, since I haven't had it in a while & same thing, only now it didn't even taste good anymore. My sister got similar symptoms with Folgers. That's just sad, I loved MH!!

The very first time I drank Maxwell 7 years ago I was fine. Recently for the past year I've been experiencing bad stomach-aches and diarrhea, so I avoid buying this brand all together now. I drink only MacDonald brand and I am fine with it, I do not experience the sickness that I do with Maxwell House. I thought maybe it was just me, but now I see this article and I guess I'm not alone.

I thought it was just me i noticed a different taste n not a good one but i had a cold n thought it had somthing to do with it but cold is gone n i still have the strange tast so i cleaned out coffee pot thinking it would go away but no still have it ill be watching now to see whats going on thanks for sharing strange brew in Florida

Head aches I stopped drinking it for a couple of days and had two cups today and got another head ache . I thought it was my sinuses at first so I took day quil and two Tylenol I had to lay down

I haven't seen that label in Florida, I drink both brands and I have never had any problem. Double check where it comes from and where it was packed.

I too have noticed a change in the taste of a Maxwell House coffee product. I have drank Cafee Francais for 30 years or more. I noticed a stronger, bitter flavor in the last 2 cans. I am disappointed with the change and sorely miss my favorite coffee beverage.

I am deeply saddened to discover that your International Sugar Free Coffee has aspartame in your ingredients! With all the warnings of aspartame why is your company still using it. I knew it could be too good to be true why i loved this product until i looked at the ingredients. I will be forced to discontinue your product because I care more about my health! Bought Maxwell House Original Roast 925G (cause it was cheap,$ 5.97 CAD) and returned it open to the store same day. It's everything but not coffee. Got the dizziness only from the idea that I am gonna drink it next month. Bought %100 Arabica (Colombian) 326G of Selection from another store. Pretty happy now. 3G investments (the owner of KRAFT) destroys this iconic brand!!!

It is no secret that "All" of these brands take advantage of the consumer. Kraft employ a team of experts to continuously try to make a decent cup of coffee with cheaper beans. A lot of science goes into this effort. Basically, they used to roast good quality coffee at a fast rate and now they try to roast poor quality coffee at slower rates. Also, it not a secret that they constantly are developing blends that mix great quality coffee with the bad stuff to make the final product. These blends will often change from time to time due to new flavors, promotions, etc. For instance, they may provide a new packaging look or provide a new style container and they ship with better quality product, over time the product will "cheapen" the blend to maximize profit leaving consumers with poorer tasting product. Believe me, the consumers fascination fad with premium coffee is putting a hurt on mainstream coffee and as a result, changes are being made for transitional roasters to "keep up" with the falling market share. Its all a balance

How many coffee beans does it take to wake up the world. I thought I had developed gerd or cancer had already set in. Switched to McDaniel's medium roast. Three days and no heartburn at all. I am shocked at the heartburn relief. I couldn't eat chips,butter,apples,bread,chocolate and was starting to get sick. The quality of food in general is of concern, I have a basic diet and never eat prepared foods from grocery stores or restaurants. I have never stopped drinking coffee since I started as a child, I am now 51. Maxwell house and Folger's brands were mainstay's. I quit smoking because of the heartburn 3 years ago and thought maybe I quit too late, burn did not subside. I will say I couldn't get enough coffee on former brands, it seemed to be addictive??? I do not drink as much coffee on current brand, maybe a third as much. I smoked organic tobacco years ago and went from 2 packs commercial brand a day to 8-10 ciggs per day. Private whole leaf, you shred and roll your own. Maybe there are fillers and quicker methods to meet demands that are cost effective. There are times I drink coffee and want to vomit for a brief moment. I stove perk my coffee in a pot, vintage 1960 that is stainless steel, pure water, transfered to sealed carafe upon completion of brew. I feel normal again. If the heartburn continues I quit drinking coffee all together. I quit drinking beer as well, a year ago. ???

Maxwell House, Folgers & other such brands.... I contacted Kraft (Maxwell House) & Smuckers (Folgers). Got the same 'yada-yada' from both. Customer Service knows nothing but "canned answers" & the like, which is what they're instructed to say. I did fill out a form from Kraft then never heard anything back. Bottom line.... they don't care. I see people in the coffee isles searching/looking at ALL the coffees--Maxwell House & Folgers, then start looking thru the brands in the vented 12oz bags (which are mostly better coffees). They grab whatever & finish their shopping. I've even asked some people if MH or Folgers tastes or smells like coffee to them & they all have said the same, "No, not anymore." Most seem to go to the vented bagged coffees since they're better. I don't buy my coffee from the grocery. I buy 1 pound of fresh roasted beans weekly from a local small batch roaster, grind each morning only what I'm going to brew. Local roasters will also grind your coffee for you. I said Good Bye to MH & Folgers in 2012 & never looked back.

I have been drinking maxwell house for over 30years. I had been drinking columbian,French roast. The last 4years. In November 2015 the flavor of the columbian to me has changed
Its like brewing water .no matter how strong I make it .even the French roast is the same. I got a 12 cup maker.2scoops usaly will do it . I even went as far as using 2 and a half. Its weakkk..10$wasted.

Obviously, I am not the only one disturbed by lack of aroma as well as by the fishy odour of my coffee. I normally drink Taster's Choice instant coffee. We ran out an my husband picked up Maxwell House instead. Right away I did not like the appearance of the grains of coffee so I checked for the aroma. Nothing. Not a single drop of coffee bean smell. I know this is instant coffee but there is still something wrong with that. Desperate for my morning coffee, I make a cup. On my first sip, I noticed what I can only refer to as a 'fishy smell'. Absolutely repulsive! On a whim, I thought I would google 'Maxwell House fishy smell' and was surprised when I found this forum. There is something seriously wrong with this brand and/or this jar. Judging by the amount of comments online (and people motivated enough to google the subject) Kraft has some explaining to do. I think I will write them.

At least I know I'm not the only one! My husband and I both noticed recently that the same brand/roast of coffee we have been brewing and drinking for years has suddenly started tasting bitter. This is despite using filtered water (as we have always done, cleaning my coffeemaker regularly using vinegar, using unbleached filters (as always). Nothing has changed except the taste of the coffee. If that wasn't bad enough, we find out that the brand/roast that we have loved for so long has now been discontinued. So now we're not only battling with bitter coffee, but having to get used to a whole new taste, and NOT liking it. Why do they always have to try to fix what isn't broke? Leave our coffee alone!!!!

Thought maybe it was just me but began to have terrible acid reflux with MH Dark so quit using it. Have been checking other brands. That being said, all coffee makers are from outside the US and it takes a long time lots of pots of water before they stop leaching plastic into your coffee. Something to consider if your maker is new. I think there is an opening here for a maker that doesn't add plastic to your brew. Maybe MH could team up with someone and get back to the good old coffee smell in the morning.

I knew I was in trouble when I opened this plastic jar of Maxwell house. there was no odor of coffee at all. I was using it as a stop gap until I could get more cups. my parents always used Maxwell house. we are talking longer then sixty years ago. this is not coffee by any sense of the word. it is swill. I am being kind here. do not waste your money. it's like drinking brown flavored hot water. Rip off.

I'm not loyal to any brand or type of coffee blend or roast. I personally like to switch things up a bit; change brands, blends, beans, ground, etc. However, When I want to cut back on my grocery bill, I pick up Maxwell House Breakfast Blend; I think its like $4. And,it use to fairly decent tasting. Well,I've had 2 cans since October....I thought the first can was just bad or something. But after the second can....I'm convinced something has changed for the worst at Maxwell house. It has NO aroma when you open the can...and the taste! I could swear its mixed it tobacco harvested from a spittoon! From the previous post I see some folks have called Maxwell House's customer service....they claim "no change" in the blend. Well, I'm calling BS. It absolutely undrinkable.

I am a coffee drinker and have been since a kid. But while staying with a friend, he uses Folgers and I can't stand the smell of it and refuse to drink it. It smells exactly like cat pee!!! That's why I'm on this site to find out why??? Are they treating it with something for a preservative? Can't even stand to be in the house when it's brewing.

Picked up a can of MH Morning Boost yesterday. It was under 4 bucks so I thought I'd throw caution to the wind and give it a shot. Started reading this thread as it dripped into the cup to see if any opinions were floating around out there. Here's my 2¢: it tastes just like the $1 a bag Vietnamese coffee I picked up at the dollar store, and that isn't much of a complement. If I'd noticed the country of origin on the dollar store bag I would have passed on it. Back to the MH: I don't get headaches, or hives and have a cast iron gut so I doubt it will disable me too bad. My wife had a cup and is the opposite as for her constitution, so she will be her own canary in the mine shaft on this one. Interesting after taste reminds me of soil.

I started using MH Master Blend over 30 years ago. The grounds always smelled great and the coffee was just better than other in-store brands. That was until October 2015. My wife, a tea drinker, immediately noticed a change for the worse in the aroma while brewing. I noticed a harshness in the taste. I contacted Kraft and asked them for a yes or no answer as to whether they changed something. I also indicated that anything other than yes or no would be assumed to be a yes. They claim "we don't have any records of this product having been reformulated recently". They didn't give me the yes or no answer I asked for, so I am assuming their answer was "Yes" even though their answer implied the opposite. I am now on the search for a replacement coffee.

I love the all decaf Maxwell House coffee. The store did not have it this time so I bought the "lite" variety.
The taste is strange and no good fresh smell when I opened the container.

I've been drinking Maxwell House instant coffee for years, no problems whatsoever. However for the past month or two i noticed i'm having headache and hives (especially on the hands and feets). It happens almost immediatly after i drank the coffee, it comes and go within half an hour. I had no idea this could come from the coffee, i'm certainly gonna change brand and see if there's an improvement in my symptoms.

I found most instant coffee gives this old Iron Horse the stomach quivers. I really enjoy Columbian Ground Roast. My top brand is Maxwell House, I don't like French Roast, Morning Blend, etc, etc, etc,.... Columbian!

This must be full of Robusta beans or something...All-day nausea, headaches and stomach pain. It tastes terrible and smells like burnt rubber. These coffees used to taste great, now they taste like poison!!

The coffee is fine but the plastic container without a handle is horrible. There is nothing to grip and if you have arthritis and have a problem holding on, it is a nightmare. I don't know whose idea it was to change containers but they should have taken into consideration consumers of all ages who have to hold the can and try to measure out the coffee. I have dropped the can twice. Do you know how long it takes to clean up a spill from a two lbs. can of coffee? Please reconsider going back to the old plastic 2lbs can with a handle. Thank you

One or a few bad roasters, and brewers because if the brewer can't follow directions on the side of the packaging it bears on the flavor, should not taint the reputation of ALL American coffee roasters and producers. Too much of an instant or a ground can produce an acrid tasting sludge in your cup.

The Editor's comment below nailed it. We have lots of great small batch artisan coffee roasters here in the states. Most here know you do not buy coffee from the grocery store OR IF YOU MUST then consider some better known brands sold in vented 12oz bags. All other coffees sold off store shelves in metal or plastic cans/containers are not good---don't know what they put in there, fillers with low grade coffee or whatever.

Well, when I visited the U.S. a few months ago, I also tried "Maxwell House" coffee - and I must honestly say that it IS a really BAD coffee. Coffee over here in Europe is so much better and full of taste and flavor. Americans cannot produce good coffee. No, sorry, you can't!

Editor's Note: Yes, Maxwell House sucks. But to suggest that Americans can't produce good coffee...well! Small-batch American roasters create some of the best coffees in the world!

For years I've been buying MH French Roast and Dark Roast, with no complaints. But over the past few years, it would seem that every time I buy the MH Colombian, I wind up throwing the can away, because of it's nasty taste. And not just marginally nasty; outrageously nasty. A strong, bitter, sour taste that's nothing short of awful. The aftertaste stays with you for hours. Even after brushing my teeth, it still takes hours to get the taste of out of my mouth. Has anyone else experienced this with MH Colombian?

We were getting headaches and nausea the last week and thought maybe it was the Maxwell House. We bought a big container from a big box warehouse to save some money. We stopped using the coffee and presto the headaches stopped. Not sure what they are doing but certain it was something in the coffee.

I bought foldgers country roast from Walgreens .Big mistake we normally drink Starbucks k-cups or grind whole bean coffees! But they get pricey so I get a can of maxwell or foldgers every now and then. I thought it taste weird but never had it before so kept drinking. I then felt out of it like my equilibrium was off, even blurred vision, periods of fatigue , Then sat on the toilet for a long time I thought I must of had a bug .Drank a cup the next morning and started the same thing I new it was the coffee .Was on the toilet 3 times that day with headache I went and bought Starbucks and felt great again . I'm going to save that coffee til we figure out what's in it . Thanks DONT BUY THIS COFFEE

I have been using Maxwell coffee for years, the last two times i bought it. It tasted like plastic. I have bought other brands lately, but I miss my Maxwell. Please take the plastic taste and odor away.

Have bought MH most of the time the past few years and sometimes splurge on an organic coffee I like. MH no longer has that great, fresh coffee smell when I open a new can which makes me think it is not fresh. Some days the coffee tastes great - at first but then I can only tolerate one cup where I used to drink two. Two days ago I felt really sick after having my coffee and a bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal. I had some mild diarrhea, felt nauseous and had some dizziness. I don't know if it was the coffee or the oatmeal or both but I was sick all day. There are many complaints on-line about Quaker Oats products and now here about MH coffee. I am going to go back to organic coffee to see if there is a difference.

I've been using Maxwell House Lite for as long as they have been making it and before that it was Maxwell House original. About 5 years ago I cut down to one cup a day, and just a few days ago I was put on Paxil for anxiety. Since I opened a new plastic bin of Maxwell House about that same time, I have not been able to drink a whole cup for the burning sensation and horrible tremors after the first sip. I thought I was having a sensitive stomach as a reaction to the Paxil when I stumbled onto this site. My son lives with me and buys the cheapest full caffeine coffee Walmart has. I thought I would put this to the test and I am enjoying a cup of it as I type this with absolutely no reaction! Wow - no more Maxwell House for me...

Been drinking maxwell house light every night this week and shortly after I always feel nauseous, stomach pain, slight headaches and feelings lf anxiety. Jst came across this and was glad to find out that im not the only one. Someone really needs to investigate Maxwell House, i feel like im on the verge of dying rn

My symptoms are terrible headaches, stomach pain, sneezing, blurred vision and forgetful, drained,of energy. Floger's has been slowing killing me over the years of drinking it. Itmay have been the cause of my Gal bladder having to be removed.. The reason I came to this sight today is because the taste of my Folgers was weird today very strange tasting and pale in flavor. I will not continue drinking this container of coffee. Its very sad to think these trusted name brand companies are harming people's health

I've never had a residue issue with Folgers instant or drip. And, I suppose it's a matter of taste, but Folgers isn't overloaded with chicory.

When I go to the store for instant coffee, it.s way up on the top shelf and I am short. I manage to snag it and know if it hits me on the head it won't hurt! I changed to this from tasteless Folgers. Always put a little Nestles chocolate in to pep it up. This leaves some residue. Today I left the chocolate out so I didn't have to hit the bottom collection...Well, low and behold there was a scummy residue on the side of the cup where I had been drinking. That settled that!!. I am done with this.

I have had problems from drinking the Maxwell House iced coffee packets. I have had diarrhea after drinking one glass of the coffee along with headaches and a dizzy feeling. I have also experienced the feeling of having a panic attack. I have drank this type of coffee off and on and did not relate the symptoms with the coffee till the last two times. I thought I would google what I have been experiencing and came across this site. I am definitely stopping drinking this brand of coffee and throwing the last two packets of this type of coffee away. Whey hasn't there been an investigation after all of the complaints about Maxwell House?

I usually don't have any problems when I drink coffee, but whenever I drink Folgers or Maxwell House coffee after few hours I would feel extremely tired. There is something definitely wrong with Folgers and Maxwell House and I'm pretty sure they are using some additives in their coffee. I have decided that I won't be using either of these products in the future.

Hi, I bought a 925 G can of Maxwell House Dark Roast on sale for a good price, then after buying it i went on line to find out who makes the best brand of store bought coffee, after going on line i was thinking about returning it, i went to the store to exchange it but they were out of the other brand that was on sale, After returning home i decided to just keep it and see for myself, i made a small pot and made it a little strong and drank it black i didn't really care for it, and a little cream and now we have a rich dark coffee, the bottom line is, i'm glad i kept it, for the cost to taste ratio it was a bargain

...I now mostly drink Kava instant. The big brands have become very inconsistent in quality and no bitterness. A bit pricier per ounce but good coffee.

I will add that I've never had a disappointing cup of Peet's.

i thought i was dying.. i am not a maxwell house customer, simply purchased it in desperation last night because i ran out of my regular fresh ground blend.. anyway, woke up as usual, brewed this coffee, and after a few sips.. actually felt nauseous, and the need to say, go to the bathroom a little more than normal. needless to say, i need my caffein, so drank the entire 15oz cup.. and half way on the train, had to turn around and go home. i was feel woozy, lightheaded and nauseous. spent the day at home, lightheaded... not sure what it is, but seems like i am not the only one.. so best to just spread the word to stay away from this crappy blend. i hope i feel better to tomorrow.. drank alot of water to flush this poison out of my system today!

My issue is with NABOB coffee. I bought some Keurig cups a few days ago and have finally put two and two together. For the last two days I have had excruciating back pain, but my gut was telling me it might actually be something internal instead. This morning I realized "I haven't felt like this since that can of Nabob coffee I bought years ago". Like others have commented, the cans were on sale also (I suspect they were trying maybe trying to get rid of a lousy batch?). I drink gallons of coffee without issues (but never Nabob, Folgers nor Maxwell House). Usually it's a store brand in Canada (President's Choice) or Starbucks.

I compared the flavor of the can vs the kcup - the difference is day and night! Definitely get the kcup - the taste is really good. Be sure to recycle the cups!

I have been drinking MH regular for 20 years. Starting in May 2015, I noticed the coffee kept going stale. I also started having intestinal cramps and diarrhea. I started drinking a different brand and it stopped. I also cleaned out my coffee maker. I bought another big tin of MH. The problem started again. So they have changed something. My symptoms start within 30 minutes. I drink my coffee black and use distilled water. :(

I am coffee lover and I drink a lot of coffee, of different brands. I start my morning with a coffee of drip using Starbucks at home, and then espresso-based (Peet's) drinks when I get to the office... I hit up local roaster sometimes for the afternoon jolt. I never had any issue with coffee upsetting my stomach. I picked up some MH dark roast ground when my normal Starbucks roast was out of stock, thinking it's good enough to hold me over for a few days... BIG mistake!

I had upset stomach, felt sick and wanted to throw up (not being dramatic here) within 30 mins of drinking of a cup of MH. First I thought it was stress from work, but usually coffee counters work-stress for me... Initially, I didn't think it was the MH coffee, but after 1 week worth of experiments, I am 100% convinced the issue is the MH coffee. The upset stomach wanting to vomit went a way the moment I start drinking other brands of coffee!

So, I am trying a decaf ground brand (non-MH) which is Arabica, but just the aroma is making me nauseous, and I'm aware that drinking Arabica from Starbucks, MH, and those wonderful coffee-a-month clubs is main bean. But, frankly, I have found non-Arabica to be more tasty and less irritating to my digestion. Unless the barista adds a half-pinch of salt or baking soda, the bitter taste is overwhelming and ruins the experience. In summary, I've found the Arabica experience a turn-off.

Anyone know why I only like this particular brand? I am nowhere near a coffee connoisseur, but most everything else I have tried, I taste a 'bitter' aftertaste that I don't with Maxwell House. I don't drink coffee for the taste anyway, I only drink it doped up with cream and sugar, but, even then...I only like this brand. Instant, single 'tea bag' brewing, and full pots. It's the only one I find to be smooth.

When Kraft bought out MH years ago they started using Robusto garbage beans "To help the Vietnamese economy". I suppose there was a certain amount of outrage since it tasted like cat poop.

I was having horrible diarrhea every morning for months and I thought it might be caused by coffee in general so I quit it and it worked. No more problems. One day my husband said, "how about half a cup?" So I did and I was fine and even went back to a full cup. All was fine with my stomach but I had taken note that the thing that had changed was that we used to buy maxwell house but since we joined costco, we now buy Kirkland columbian. Well I mentioned this all to my dr. and he said it's not the brand that cured you it was the break you took to give your intestines a rest. Well guess what, I ran out of coffee and could not make it to costco so I bought maxwell house since it was on sale, and the terrible diarrhea came back worse than ever. What the heck to they put in that stuff?

I'm an avid Maxwell House Instant coffee drinker. I look forward to my morning coffee. I purchased 3 jars of instant coffee from ultra food with the expiration date of March 2016. When I sipped my coffee it had a terrible unfamiliar taste. I couldn't drink the whole cup. The next day I decide to go to Jewel and purchase 1 jar. It had the same horrible taste. I don't know if the taste/flavor is changing of you delivered a bad batch to Chicago. I'm extremely annoyed and now I have to search for a new coffee.

I am glad to have found this! I was thinking it was something wrong with our coffee machine or water. I am avid coffee drinker. During the week I can finish a pot of our coffee at work with no problems (Starbucks Blond Roast). On the weekends I brew Maxwell Master Blend. The first problems we started noticing was a very biter/chemical taste about 6 months ago. We put a pinch of salt and it helped with the bitterness but not the chemical taste. Recently I have noticed halfway through a second cup of the coffee I get lightheaded, shakey, nausea and diarrhea. I can never drink more than two cups of this coffee without almost puking. It is unusual considering the amount of coffee I drink during the week So I wouldn't pin it on a caffeine sensitivity. I will definitely be switching to a different a brand of coffee TODAY!

I have always drank foldgers, a few weeks ago I bought a new coffee maker because something tasted disgusting in my coffee. I haven't been able to drink it without getting extremely sick to my stomach. I've been getting headaches to, I thought it was because I was having caffeine withdrawals. I threw away my last can of coffee thinking it was bad. Just opened new one last week. My niece and I had a cup together we weren't even half way through when we both got sick and rushed to bathroom. I am going to see how to have it tested

This is crazy...I actually stopped drinking coffee because I was getting extreme nausea after drinking Folger's... After about a week is when it struck me that it was the coffee. We tried Maxwell House...same thing and also felt sluggish. After the whole nausea experience, I haven't had any coffee since. I thought maybe my body was just overly sensitive for some reason. But I'm definitely not surprised.. Nothing is safe anymore.

Wish I knew one, but a chemist would be able to analyze these coffees and tell us what is in them that is making us sick. Even a class action would require knowing what is really in these coffees and why they have included additives they know are making us ill. Until then, stop drinking them and spread the word.

I just finished up a 240 oz can of Maxwell House intence bold and have been nauseous every day, even the smell makes me sick. I hope this will quit now that I am drinking another brand. Has anyone considered a class action suit since the company will not address our concerns?

(NOTE) I have NEVER suffered with headaches...less than a handful in a lifetime so far for me...the big joke in our family is that if mom ever starts having headaches then something will be wrong...now on with the coffee problems...

(FIRST)I have been drinking coffee in my new Keurig since December 2014...I bought Folgers gourmet Lively Columbian from Sam's Club...I always run the water twice in one k-cup of coffee so it will give me two cups of weaker tasting coffee...

(SECOND)I continued to drink this coffee for about a week when I started noticing headaches...some slight and some severe headaches mostly in the back of my head and tightness in my forehead and in the eye area...eventually nausea set in and all types of intestinal problems)...

(THIRD)At first I didn't relate it with the coffee...I thought it was a really bad allergy from the early pollen this year...

(FOURTH)...A few weeks ago...I changed coffee to Folgers gourmet Morning Cafe from Walmart...I continued to have the headaches JUST NOT AS SEVERE as before...now the headaches are a whole lot less and the nausea is going away some...the intestines are feeling better...I WILL NEVER BUY THE FOLGERS LIVELY COLUMBIAN EVER AGAIN!!!

(FIFTH)...I plan to buy Doughnut House brand of coffee today at Walmart to see if I can get the headaches to completely go away...I will update my post in a few weeks with the results...

Had several K-cups of MH and it was quite good. Thought the large container MH in my Mr. Coffee should be just as good. Not even close. I am returning the MH can. No flavor, no taste and no aroma. Just warm colored water.

I am going to have to change to another brand of coffee next time I go to the store. Maxwell House Lite is just not like it used to be. It is so bitter, and doesn't smell fresh from the get-go! I have been drinking Maxwell House coffee since I got married--almost 54 years ago.Believe me, something has changed! Yuck!

My wife and I have been drinking Maxwell House for over 30 years. We switch between the Med and Dark roast with Maxwell House and only purchase Starbucks and Dunken Donuts when they are on sale. We have noticed after immediately drinking coffee from last few cans my wife and I felt extremely nauseated and had to immediately use the bathroom. The first cup after opening this last container was the worst yet for me. I was on my normal routine driving to work and started to drink my Maxwell House coffee. I was about half way trough the cup and had to pull over on the highway and vomited continuously with horrible stomach cramps. I quickly drove to the rest stop and it was coming out both ends at that point. That evening we bleached and throughly cleaned the coffee maker. Next morning the samething happened after half a cup. The FDA has to get involved before someone gets sick and dies from this coffee!!!!!

I have been having health problems for over six years off and on including extreme fatigue/weakness, dizziness/vertigo, brain-fog and dissociative identity disorder type issues like feeling lost in my head, etc. No doctors have found anything wrong with me when checked. I began my own research a couple of years ago and found the usual thousand diseases that have common symptoms such as celiac disease/gluten intolerance, etc. but found inconsistencies (I can eat breads, etc. and feel fine). After ruling out almost everything myself I decided to just cut stuff out until I found out if a food allergy was the culprit. Turned out cutting coffee helped 100% so I quit for a while. Being weak-willed (with coffee :) I drank some again a while back with no problems! I had been drinking coffee for months with no problems until I bought some Folgers Coffee on sale. Then the problems came back in full force! I discussed it (again) with my wife and we realized that we had been buying off brands for a long time recently and that my previous years of problems coincided with our regular purchases of Folgers Coffee. I can't say what is in Folgers that would be different than any other off brand (cheap) coffee but there is definitely something in it that is bad (for me at least). Consumer Beware! (PS: I don't know that I ever tried MH but I wouldn't be surprised if they were owned or produced by the same company or processes).

I made a huge mistake by buying a can of Maxwell Coffee at the Dollar Store, The can read MORNING BOOST IN YELLOW. Shortly after drinking it I got a severe migraine headache from Hell. The headache
started in the afternoon and staying with me through the night,Got very little sleep. Not knowing made another pot of it in the morning,

We used to love the Maxwell house house blend, but lately it has been tasting different, not good like it used to be. So I guess it's time to look for another coffee. Good while it lasted.

I started saving my Maxwell House used coffee grounds to use in my gardens this spring. While the grounds were drying, I noticed some of the ground were blueish green. Can anyone tell me what is in the coffee grounds? Is it some sort of a filler? or Chemical? I've never seen this before in any other product.

A container of 1 Lb 13.3 oz? Really? and same price as old 2 lb container also made to look like 2 lb container with the back cut away and formed into a handle so it still looks like a large container from the front view. What do they think? We are idiots? I won't be buying any more of their products because of this. Coffee container & cereal box reductions saving pennies a box and MILLIONS overall at our expense. Like the 5 lb bag of sugar gone forever reduced to 4 lbs at the same price of 5 lbs. Good bye Maxwell House.

My husband and I have used MH Instant for 34 years - bought 3 jars on sale last week and thought it was odd that it didn't have that "fresh coffee aroma" when we opened it - it tasted awful and had a 'chemical' smell and aftertaste. I went to Kraft Foods site (ironically, they were just sold to Heinz yesterday) and filled out a 'product concern' form with date codes, UPC, etc. Here is the response I rec'd:

The problem you described sounds like the product was not properly stored during distribution. We take care at our manufacturing facilities to ensure that our products are stored at the correct temperature and time frame until we are able to distribute them. Once our products are in distribution, the storage is out of our control. If the product was exposed to excessive temperatures it could cause the problem you described.

Sounds like BS to me - I returned it to the store (Walgreens) and even though it was NOT their issue, but in my opinion defective product, they credited me the full amount.

I am having a reaction to Folgers Dark Roast. My face has become tingly and on the brink of going numb. Also the past couple of years, I would become nauseous after drinking a mug of morning coffee. Very strange. I started to think that maybe they were adding a flavor enhancer, like MSG. I had four drinks from my coffee mug this morning and the facial tingling started immediately. Through the rest of the mug down the sink and brewed a cup of tea. I will give up the pre-ground coffees forever.

We recently opened a can of MH Original Roast while on vacation and am so disappointed in the flavour of this coffee.
I brought 3 large tins of the Great Canadian Coffee with me but ran out so I have purchased MH or Folgers in the past while in the U.S.

What have they done to their coffee? I use to find it acceptable but will never buy it again.

I hadn't bought it in a while but did so recently; it's not the same! My stomach cannot tolerate Folgers lite so I'm going to recommend Starbucks House Blend. Less bang for the buck but a really good coffee.e

Have ben drinking Bustelo for months. Love it! Just switched to Folgers Country Roast (was on sale). Have been ill every morning since buying (34.5 oz size). Started to suspect the coffee this morning. A quick google search found me this site. Turns out a TON of people are getting sick from this!!! STAY AWAY!!!

I just bought a 30.65 ounce (used to be 39oz) can of Wake Up Blend, as it used to be perfect for the Keurig, not too dark. Even using 50% more grounds, where is my coffee, this brown water is undrinkable.

My parents drank Maxwell House instant coffee, and from the 1970s onward, I did too.
Opening a new glass jar was an experience to be savored; The wondrous aroma of fresh coffee seemed to fill the whole kitchen.
That was when Maxwell House instant coffee came in glass jars with red labels and red metal lids.
Then, at some point during the mid 2000's they switched to plastic jars, and then again to blue labeling, and there was a noticeable decrease in flavor.
The new Maxwell House instant in the plastic jars with blue labeling tastes stale from the moment you open a new jar. Theres no longer that wondrous aroma when you open a new jar. And like a previous poster wrote, you need to add more coffee to your cup nowadays.
It is very disappointing.

Coffee is a stomach irritant, some people are more sensitive to it than others and gets more severe with age, and can actually happen like a light switch. One day coffee is you best friend the next day your huggin your toilet like you went drinking the night before.

I have been drinking Maxwell House Lite coffee for years. This morning I opened a brand new container and expected to be met by the great coffee smell.....I smelled nothing. That should have been my first clue. I brewed the coffee like normal expecting that great coffee taste. I soon as I put the coffee mug to my lips I knew something was not right. It had a chemical smell and and taste.......Disgusting! I will not be buying Maxwell House again.

Has definitely changed the blend..tastes terrible.
Returning this to Publix tomorrow.
Have noticed a drastic change for several months but it's nearly undrinkable now. No enjoyment what so ever. Looking elsewhere.

when I buy coffee, I stockpile. I bought 2 dozen bottles of instant MH a while back. they expire 15MA15 but every bottle I've opened recently doesn't smell like coffee, it smells somewhat unpleasant. it's even tasteless. I don't know if they've gone stale, the seals were intact. I've been storing them in the same pantry for over ten years and this is the first batch that sucks. maybe I got from the same batch as Don Fitch. I just bought a Nescafe tin and I was transported into a caffeinated heaven. I doubt I'll ever buy from MH again. but what to do with the 1o bottles I have left? bake coffee cakes? tasteless coffee cakes. I guess I'll dump them in my garden fertilizer this May.

is there a way to boost the taste back to normal?

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing our Folgers coffee not tasting near as good as it used to. I can't even enjoy that stuff anymore. We found we liked the Folgers Special Blend, well, not anymore, they last 3 can taste awful and we will not buy it again. At work we have Maxwell house and it has that funny taste also. The tasted makes me think it has some cardboard in it somehow. Taste bad.

I have drank both and i could drink it up until about a a year ago, it started making me feel uneasy, fidgety more than usual and i became nauseous and light headed. almost flue like symptoms i would get cold sweats and all. i would have to lay in bed for quite awhile before i would be even a little bit alright. i know it has nothing to do with caffeine i drink caffeinated drinks all the time so i became worried maybe im allergic to the coffee bean or something but reading these comments i know its something to do with the coffee brand itself.

the last container original roast Maxell house that I bought after brewing I noticed white flakes in the grounds which were not there originally.I've had a few issues with this brand for several years and keep forgetting about it.almost flu litwo to threeit took about two to three weeks before I notice the symptoms but they always come on the same way just start with inflamed lips and other mucous membranes.something in it is triggering allergic reactions.

Our office just replaced our coffee with the maxwell house...i thought oh great now we have gone cheaper, turns out, it tastes just like Postum which is a coffee like substance made with wheat, bran and molasses. This is terrible! We thought it was only because we made a pot with one bag, so we dumped that batch and made it with two. It now looks like real coffee color, but still tastes awful! We are discussing bringing in our own thermoses of home brewed!

I haven't been feeling well for a while, and I have been experiencing terrible cystic acne!! I think I've determined it to be the Folgers coffee I've been using for, unfortunately, about 5 years, regularly. In the last year, the "cysts" have continued to get worse! I quit using Folgers about two months ago when I noticed, every time, about 30 minutes after consuming a cup, a cyst would begin to form. I suspected coffee in general, but found higher quality brands did not have this affect. My face has completely cleared except for some scarring. Since I've dropped Folgers I've consumed 1 cup at my Dad's and, POOF, 30 minutes later, acne. I believe Folgers is poison in my body.

I usually avoid Folgers but there's always a pot brewed in the office break room and sometimes it's just too convenient. On several occasions over the last 5-6 years I've had allergic reactions immediately after drinking a cup of Folger's. Symptoms are swollen lips then a headache. After a few incidents I stopped drinking Folgers, until recently. A few weeks ago I had two cups in the same day and I had to go to urgent care that afternoon with a painful swollen eye. That led to multiple trips to the eye doctor, thousands of dollars and a lot of lost work time. I can only suspect there's something in the coffee but the cause of the inflammation was not absolutely determined. But I'm not taking any chances, I now bring my own organic coffee to work and brew it separately in a french press.

Over the last month I have been experiencing severe headaches/dizziness. I finally figured out it was my Maxwell Coffee after not having it over the Holiday as I was out of town and drinking Tim Horton’s. When I returned to home, I started right in on my Maxwell and my headaches returned. I googled Maxwell and Headaches and came across this forum. I will be throwing out my Maxwell and not buying it again. I will return to buying Tim Horton’s.

As someone who enjoys a cup of coffee in the morning every once in a while, I have noticed a decline in general in the taste of both these brands. My place of work offers folgers classic roast. It has never tasted as bad as it does lately and I have had to stop drinking it completely. The last time I had it, it acted as a laxative. As for maxwell house, my family used to drink it and noticed a decline in taste. Needless to say, I will not be drinking it again.

My husband and I have been using MH for years. The last few cans we purchased have been terrible. It has a nasty bitter taste. We thought it might be the pot so we changed pots,,,several times. It is the coffee. Fogers is just as bad. Guess its time to shop for a different coffee.

The taste changed when they went from metal to cardboard cans. They do not hold the vacuum and the coffee is stale before you even buy it. I have switched to Don Francisco that is still packed in metal cans.

I found this webpage after I discovered my coffee smelled like chemicals and was making me sick. I went on maxwell house's facebook and complained. A representative called me and they are going to send it to their labs to see what's going on. The weird thing is they said no one else has complained about it smelling like pesticides... So seriously, go tell maxwell house what you've been saying on here. Let them know. I saw someone mention reporting them to the FDA, that's good too and all, but let the company know too before going over their heads.

I am so glad I found this site. I've had morning headaches and stomach cramps drinking Folgers for a while, but especially with this new tub of Classic Roast I purchased a few days ago. When I first opened it, for some reason it caught my attention how fragrant it was - now I'm suspicious as to whether Folgers is hiding something with an aromatic additive. I recently bought a new coffee maker and wasn't sure whether or not it was the root of the problem, but reading these posts seems to confirm my suspicions.

I am in no way a coffee expert, so it's hard for me to tell differences between different coffees. I wasn't sure whether I was just drinking too much coffee or what. I will try a locally roasted bag of beans and update about whether I get the same effects.

I bought some Maxwell House, brewed it, drank 3 cups of it in the span of 3 hours and spent 1/2 the day running to the bathroom. I will never waste my money on MH coffee again.

After reading the latest complaint about Maxwell House I went to the FDA web site and filled out a report. The last post on here I read suggested doing that---great idea! I listed Maxwell House AND Folgers as bad coffees but also mentioned the same could apply to generic store brands as well. PLEASE go to the FDA site and file a complaint. I won't ever go back to drinking pre-ground coffee from a can but something should be done since there are still consumers buying that terrible stuff!

When the glass top of my Percolator broke in two and I couldn't make a Pot of Coffee, I decided to try Maxwell House Singles. First was that awful taste. I'm a hardcore Coffee nut and I even drank C-Rat Coffee for years in the Corp, but this taste is sad. Second, that feeling like a Daycare of hyper Kids are jumping around in my Stomach until I feel Nausea and my insides are gurgling like someone down there is pissed at me.
This used to be a Household brand that you could count on to make a good cup of Joe. It will not be in my household again unless I want someone I don't like to have a cup.

When I was living in Rchester New York Maxwell House came out with a coffee labeled Italian Roast. Presumably to test market a coffee where a large italian community existed. I bought a can and the next morning I awoke to the most amazing smell I had ever encountered for a pot of coffee. I could smell it all the way three floors up from the kitchen!

This went on for several months, every morning the most amazing smelling and tasting coffee. I was almost out of the coffee so I went a purchased another 2 pound can. A couple of days later I opened the new can and prepared the coffee maker for the next morning. When I awoke I went to the kitchen for my morning cup and when I tasted it there was no taste! Nothing! I was in a panic. I reread the label to make sure I had the right coffee. I dumped the pot and began another, but with the same result. No taste at all.

As it turns out as of today, some 20 years later still I cannot taste or smell coffee if it is wet. I can smell the aroma of coffee when it is dry, beans or ground, but when it is brewed it has no aroma or taste. I have searched for a coffee I could taste, even when I was in Hawaii I had hoped I would find something, but no. I found out that the Italian roast they sold was only a test market and it did not survive. I suspect that it had some chemical aroma enhancer in it that caused drinkers of the coffee to be addicted to it. I certainly was. I could not wait to wake up and get that first cup in the morning. I think that might have scared Maxwell House and they pulcer the enhancer for a few months before pulling the coffe from the shelves. I certainly would pay them for that coffee again as it seems to be the only coffee I could taste or smell, I need some of that enhancer!of course they would never own up to such a thing. I do not know how large the trial was.

It might have been only in Rochester but I will bet there are others still there with the same problem, cannot taste or smell the coffee. What kind of life is that?!?

I used to LOVE getting up and having a cup of this coffee and it is the only kind I would buy.

I bought Maxwell House (original med roast) on sale at CVS. I switch brands all the time and I noticed Im getting "the runs" while drinking it, it isn't waking me up and doesnt taste so great. Wow its not just us. This is the worst coffee i've ever made! maxwell house breakfast blend,it tastes like wood or cardboard or something non coffee. Its nice to have pre ground coffee for convenience but if this is the taste,we better stick to whole bean. What a horrible taste and after taste!

Yesterday I woke up made a pot of Folgers coffee and felt slightly nauseous after drinking it. This morning I drank half a cup and threw up. There's something seriously wrong with their coffee.

I have been drinking Maxwell House for years. The last couple years I've been having issues with nausea, diarrhea and headaches. Went to the doctor's, everything checked out OK, thought I drank too much coffee/ caffeine. Bought the Nescafe instant decaf in September and felt fine all day. Then I had another cup of Maxwell House House Blend and my nausea was back.
I have now completely switched to Nescafe instant (both regular and decaf) and I have not had any issues for almost 2 months.
Someone told me that coffee could be treated with Ammonia, which can cause those symptoms, but I was unable to find any reliable information about this topic.

I've been drinking Maxwell House Masterblend for over 30 years, have faithfully stuck by the brand even when it wasn't the cheapest, because I liked the taste. Now apparently you've found another market and decided to tune your product to them. Sounds a lot like the new coke fiasco, and from the comments here, isn't much more successful. I'll have to shop around now to find a coffee I like, but this new master blend is so bad I wont' even bother finishing the brand new container.

made a cup as usual in the morning and the taste
was horrible making my stomach rumble causing me
severe cramps and diarrhea. My first thought was
maybe our water was bad. However the next day I
used pure bottled water with the same results.

Yesterday I went out and bought a new high end coffee maker and this morning your Original Roast
Medium coffee just opened was not even close to
the the taste I'm accustom to. Unfortunately for
me I spent time and money defending your Maxwell
House brand only to find out that your quality and
credibility has slipped costing you a good customer.

Sherry, unfortunately Folgers has changed too. Even off brands. A few years ago I had noticed my husband's drip Maxwell & Folgers changed. My husband would buy either brand. I lie not when I say this...one of those brands, while dripping, smelled like hot urine. Every time. I'm only saying that is what it always smelled like. I dink instant and have to add and add to just get a taste of coffee. No more Folgers or Maxwell House for me either.

I have been drinking Maxwell House coffee for years, but in the last few weeks, since I've been using this newest tin, it's been making me sick to my stomach. I get headaches, and then I start to throw up. I am a diabetic and cannot afford to be vomiting my breakfast every day. I need to eat regularly to keep my blood sugar levels at their optimum. I would recommend to everyone who reads this that they change to a different brand, but not Folger's, as it seems to be causing the same problem for some people. This is shameful. The product appears to be tainted with something.

Wife and I have used Maxwell House French Roast for several years. When we went to the grocery store two weeks ago, there was nothing but Maxwell House Original on the shelf. There was a five foot long empty area where all the other varieties of Maxwell House used to be. As we walked by the other brands we happened to see one container of the Maxwell House French Roast in the Folgers area. We put it in our cart and talked about how lucky we were to find it. The next morning when we made our coffee, it was so bitter and it had a very odd after taste for several minutes. We forced ourselves to drink it and now we are paying for it. Since then we have been nauseous, had stomach cramping, and other digestive problems. We are hoping this will go away. We now think it had all been pulled from the shelf for some reason and we just happened to find one they missed.

All my adult life I've drank Maxwell House original, I'm 59. My last two purchases have upset me greatly. The package is marked Original Roast and in small print under the seal is the strength. I've been so disappointed with the strength. I just want the ORIGINAL MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE. Not mild, not medium, not dark, just original roast like in the beginning.

I'd also like to buy it in the same store all the time. Not a different flavor, like this mild roast I'm drinking today. Just the same brand, same flavor time after time. So as upset as I was when I started this writing, all I want to say is, I want my coffee to be good to the last drop like I've known. Maxwell House plain original roast.
